Be Not Nobody vs. Harmonium, album, Tony Danza Show
« on: March 07, 2005, 09:55:59 am »
Does anyone else still listen to both records and think that Be Not Nobody is a little more mature and older (not in the literal release date sense) than Harmonium? I love both, but I think BNB seems more mature and wiser. More of an adult Vanessa. Just curious what you all think.

Also, I think a whole album with songs fast and pounding and moving like "Private Radio", "White Houses", and "Unsung" would be cool.

What did she perform on the Tony Danza Show today?

I'm listening to both of them right now and I don't know if I can compare the two of them like that, but 'BnN' seems more "mystical" in its sound, where 'Harmonium' seems more brilliantly colored with more piano in the picture.

Musically as a whole (not just the piano part) BNN is more mature

Lyrically Harmonium is more mature

and i prefer music over words so BNN wins! haha

Personally, I think that "Harmonium" is more mature, especially lyrically. :) But then again, it's quite tough to rank the maturity of the albums.

i would say that bnn is more mature, but i think its more involved and such... possibly because she was in a darker place at the time, the songs are darker and (in my opinion) deeper. Harmonium is more light hearted, with the execption of a few songs like the wreckage and hawbtw

I had to work 2-2am today so I just watched what I taped.

I was very happy that he spoke with her. It was pretty much the same old, "It's A Small World" story, grammy nods, he mentioned having a huge hit right off and now having to establish yourself beyond that (her words). Tony was very excited that she was there and he even told her he was a NESSAholic, to which she replied,"Awe that's so nice." He said, "that's what they call it."

So having worked 12 hours and it's now 3:20am I took some pictures with my phone, I know, not the greatest but I must rest and do it all over again tomorrow so this is the fastest way I could let you all at least get a peep. She looked lovely btw. Her hair is braided off to the right on top, very cute.

That's a cute dress she's wearing.

I missed it, so some pics are better than no pics. :)

That looks like the same dress she wore for the Atlanta show.  She put on the same necklace afterward when she met folks.

I think she wears the same dress on every concert.... she looks nice in it but she can change it from time to time.

I actually prefer BNN to Harmonium. They both have GRAND songs and meh songs. It's all good though. The end of the middle of Harmonium sort of...well...stinks (no offense.) C'est La Vie and Papa are two GREAT songs but I just get tired of em. Sorry...
