Easiest Vanessa Song to Learn
« Reply #30 on: July 10, 2005, 09:43:53 am »
When I first bought BE NOT NOBODY songbook, I worked on Ordinary Day.... then I learned a bit of Paradise (can't get past the second choris though...),  and I know some of Twilight... but I think I'll have to get my piano teacher to help me with all the ...well I can't tell whether the last two pages or whatever..are in a certain key, or if they're supposed to be sharps...

i don't have either of her songbooks, but i did learn part of SWAY, and AFTERGLOW and part of WHITE HOUSES [in B and C Major]. White Houses is the easiest, so far.

The key change in twilight is a *bit* icky. Took me, like, 10 minutes to get it down (along with vocals).

.. I know pretty much all of them and Ordinary Day is by far the easiest & the first one that I learned. The only tricky part in the middle is all the chords and after that you're all set.

twilight

Most definitely.
Took me one play through to learn it by heart.
Plus it's a beautiful song...

Whoever said White Houses... I would definitely beg to differ. The song isn't "difficult" but I wouldn't say it's one of her easiest either. For a beginner who isn't used to corresponding bottom and top hand yet, it might be a little tricky.

well, since i own neither one of Vanessa's songbooks, i would say the easiest song that i learned was 'Afterglow'. the song i learned the fastest was 'A Thousand Miles'; i learned it in 2 weeks just last month, b/c i've wanted to play the song for years, but didn't get the chance until recently. now i can't get enough of it! after all, i've heard it a gazillion times ever since Summer of '02.

well, the only songs i know from BNN is 'A Thousand Miles' and bits and pieces of 'Wanted' by ear. so far, WANTED has been one of the easiest song to play. at first it was really difficult, b/c i didn't really know how to use the pedal [it requires half-pedaling]; but then it just came to me.

I think that Ordinary Day is the easiest because it was the first song that I learned.
