DVD Playing Software for Linux?

Anyone know where to find dvd player software that will run on Linux?  All I want to do is to be able to play dvds without booting into windows.

OMFG BUT LINUX IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN WINDOWS! THAT EXPLAINS WHY YOU CAN'T FIND DVD SOFTWARE FOR IT! LOLZ1!1!1!

VLC will probably be the easiest choice.

I should add that this is technically illegal under the DMCA. It's a stupid issue that you can read about if you really care.

Will, Thanks for the link. It looks like it's down right now.  I'll try again later...

Um, I am not a Windows hater, it's just I have a dual boot system and it would be nice if when I boot into Linux if I could watch a dvd without having to reboot, no big deal...

The big reason there isn't a dvd player widely available is because the encoding/decoding scheme for dvd's has been a patent issue...even if it is a mathematical formula....Heck, if I could purchase software for it to run on Linux, I would..but I have not seen any...I don't want to copy dvds..just watch those I have have legally purchased...

You'd think so, but it's really the DMCA. Specifically 17 USC 1201.

It's not built into NT. It's not built into the windowing server. It simply comes with Windows. STFU. The a la carte nature of Linux is the reason it is so powerful. Different target audience.
