I personally enjoy Private Radio because, as everyone else has stated, it's upbeat and catchy but also because I have a bit of insomnia myself and I stay up sometimes until 5 am writing or listening to music.

I didn't like Private Radio for a while when I first heard the Harmonium album. Now I like it. It grew on me. I didn't think you came off as rude ScottishKevin. I completely understand. Take care,

Private Radio is catchy, and that is a reason I like it. I also like that it is about insomnia without her ever having to really talk about sleeping or having insomnia. When I think of insomnia, I think of many thoughts being in my mind, and I think Vanessa gets that across in the song with looping vocals over vocals. Your mind is going, you can't sleep, and in the song, there are all these vocals, and they are fast, and they loop. At the end, there are like 3 or 4 vocals loops over each other. It is like insomnia of the mind actually put to music. Maybe I look too much into it. But I think that is why the song is brilliant.

That's an interesting take.  Maybe all those vocals are there to imitate her ADD.  I don't have experience with ADD, but some have told me it's like that.....different voices, switching radio stations, etc.

i have ADD, and i totally get this song, because as nosticker said, ADD is like switching radio stations in your head all the time. it is really annoying sometimes, especially when something, not nessarily a song, gets stuck in your mind, at the same time when you are trying to do other things. i get sidetracked a lot, i guess its the ADD coming out in this post, but I love this song, because it makes me feel like i am not the only one who is up until like 3 in the morning, because i cant get my mind off of so many different things...

..i'm ready good to go...

...i love the melody, its very catchy...

<now i have to change my song that im listening to private radio....>

I was at work last night so I wasn't able to participate in this discussion.  I have a very good live performance of "Private Radio" from Nashville.  (In fact, it was the first "successful" live performance of the song, and it remains one of the best recorded. 8)

I have the entire Nashville performance, along with bits and pieces of Vanessa before and after the show. 8) If you want the MP3s, I can send them to you on AIM or you can request the CDs (Audio and/or Video).

I like it soley for the reason that it's about insomnia.
For I have dreadful insomnia...
I usually sleep every other day.

We were just at the store last night and Megan bought me one of those masks to wear over my eyes because light is one of my worst enemies when it comes to sleep.  I'll report on how this helps. 8)

I'm exactly the opposite.
I sleep better during the day.
(It's probably cause I'm seriously afraid of the dark...)
(I know it sounds childish.)

That doesn't sound childish at all! I'm like that, too. It's purely down to the fact that I still get Night Terrors as well as regularly getting paralysed in bed. It's really frustrating and I see people in my room etc..

Now that sounds childish!

I'm afraid of the dark, too.  It's not childish...we live in a scary world.
