Jack's Mannequin
« on: July 20, 2005, 08:13:33 am »
In case anyone didn't already know, frontman of Something Corporate, Andrew McMahon, has formed a side project group called Jack's Mannequin. Their debut cd is scheduled to be released August 23rd (from what I've seen). It may be pushed back again, because as a lot of people know, Andrew has leukemia... Very sad, but he's said to be in recovery/remission, which is good.

The new single is called "The Mixed Tape" and can be heard at www.myspace.com/jacksmannequin  along with two other songs from the album.

Visit the official site at  www.jacksmannequin.com

And in case you didn't figure, the new songs are awesome!!  8)

:) Cool.

I found another good song here> www.jacksmannequin.org under "Media...Audio" It's the acoustic version of Don't Kill The Messenger. It's all piano fyi, sounds lullabyish. Good stuff!

:D  good post.

I added him as my friend on myspace a while back when I first heard he was doing this solo project.  Andrew's amazing.  Everyone check out his tunes.

I love Something Corporate and my friend was playing their CD in the car today. I asked her who it was, assuming it was SC, but she said Jack's Mannequin. I heard Dark Blue and knew I had to get the CD, so I did. Love it!

pop radio right now has a LOT of bands that all have a similar sound.
JacksMann fits into the same group, but have also managed to make something worth listening to. I like the album quite a bit. And "Dark Blue" is just damn catchy.

I agree with you that there are a million bands that sound alike, and sadly I like some of them.  I'm very choosy about which I listen to though, they've got to really impress me.  Especially live.  I heard Jack's Mannequin wasn't so good live, though I still love Andrew and SC.  Anyone see a Jack's Mannequin show?  I'd still like to hear for myself...

I went to their concert in Worcester, Mass. along with 2 friends and it was awesome. Compared to the CD and live, definitely CD hands down but there's something so cool with the raw sound that you hear in a live concert with the beats pumping through your chest and the vocals just floating around, being drowned by thousands of people singing.

Hmm.. alright well then I definitely need to go to a show and check it out for myself.  I'm glad you enjoyed it!  I think I'd just be really bummed out if I went and it wasn't a good show.  I don't wanna be unimpressed.

album reviews are all good so far :]

[EDIT:] and "the resolution" mv (with direction from twilight author stephanie meyers) is up on mtv. very pretty until the dead mermaid at the end, which i really don't like. it sounds like that part should be pretty, too, but it's not.

a lot of the mv actually reminds me of vanessa's traveling piano...

and i forgot to link, my bad. http://www.mtv.com/overdrive/?artist=1979995&vid=279959
