Buy... or download?

Very few of the CD's I like can be bought in Denmark, so I always get them imported from England, which is quite expensive. But if I want the whole CD, I always buy it, while if I on the other hand only want one or two tracks, I usually just download them.

If it's an artist i really want to support, i'll buy the whole cd, but if it's just a song i like from an artist i'm not really a fan of i'll either buy it off iTunes or find it on the internet.

my rule of thumb is if I have illegally downloaded 3 songs from one CD, then I'll buy it.

well if its someone I really like than I buy the album. But if its an artist that I like but not as much and there are only a few songs than I just download the ones I want.

I download tons of music. I know alot of people in various online communities, and I usually get albums the moment they leak. The only artists I will support 100% by buying their merchandise is M.I.A. and Buckethead, mainly because they are more obscure artists and need financial support from fans, although I do usually buy U2 albums, and will buy Guns n Roses Chinese Democracy if/when it gets released.

I am at the point where I despise Cd prices. The industry has been ripping off customers for years, and I just dont have any interest in financing their empire. Cds should be 5 bucks. No more, no less. They would make money, not rip off fans, and cd sales would go up.

There's not much incentive to pay 15 bucks for a cd when you can download it for free.

I used to buy cds when I could afford them.  I used to download illegal copies from the internet when I couldn't afford to buy and then buy the cd later by budgeting them unto my low budget to do so.  I used to own a small cd collection of classical music of about 150 cds and growing...but because my place is small I'll probably start to download whole cds onto my hard drive instead of having a stack of cds somewhere in my place to save space.  Any difference in price is not the reason....but because of organizing space.  Unless I like the art in the cd case or it is the only way to have a legit copy of the music...like small artists who sell on cdbaby and there is no other option.  Even if I had a big place it makes sense to store it on my hard drive.

That is where I'm at right now.

I'll most likely be buying H&T on cd though.

I buy the actual cd for someone I like..like V. But I hate it because I put it on my iTunes and than my iPod. Than the CD just sits there minus the ocasional times I pick it up to see the artwork. Plus sometimes they can be wayy to pricy and I don't get the cd until weeks after the album comes out. But over here where I live latley when a new cd comes out....see there are like 6-8 electronic stores out here that are close by....so when a new cd comes out they like compete. One store has it for like 10 and another for 12 and they just compete. I of course go to where it is lower but than the artist does not get the full price of the cd...its all one big mess....

Well, i'll probably have to download Vanessa's new album [like Harmonium], because she didn't release harmonium here in aus. So if she does release H&T here, i'll probably get the leaked version 1st, but still buy it coz i love V <3
