I've tried to. I've written half of the song on piano and lyrics. I need to finish it off but I can't be bothered. It's kinda mid-tempo and really really simple to play. I don't know chords and stuff 'cos I learnt it myself, but I'm slowly learning how to write my own stuff now.

Yeah, I do... some songs are piano-based, some guitar-based, some a real mixture... so my style is like a cross between Metallica and Dark Vanessa (ie. songs like Morning Sting, Papa, The Wreckage, etc.)

I live for writing! As for recording......soon...

nice job!! that's how I wrote my first song too... it just sorta came out, kinda  a spurt of suppressed anger.  Then my songs got happier... now they're just sorta schizophrenic and I don't know what to do with them! haha

^ and Megan do you have a music player on your space? if you do, it didn't load for me.  or where else can I have a listen?

I'm recording soon... next week... was supposed to record today and yesterday, but I have a sprained wrist and can't play the piano much, so I'll have to wait...

Thanks for being interested  :D
By the end of next week I will have quite a few piano/vocal tracks recorded. Some will be recorded live, which I'm looking forward too, and if all goes well I'll be able to post a video too.

Haven't yet, but thanks, that's so sweet.  :D  I might record Morning Sting then; that's my favourite song of Vanessa's.  <3 I think I'm obsessed with it, lol.

...I imagine that it would be great! Do you sing as well as playing piano? So are you planning on recording it?  :)

And white_houses, if you don't know chords and stuff, then it's especially cool that you've written something. It shows a lot of creativity.  :)

It's really strange how the different "feel" of an instrument can inspire.  My friend Rick sent his guitar out to be repaired, and 10 minutes after he got it back he instantly wrote the best song he'd written in years.  Me, I wrote a bridge to a song, chords-wise, right after picking up a friend's vintage acoustic Fender guitar.  It's like it was already there and I stumbled upon it, so I know what you mean.

I tend to write ballads on acoustic guitar and piano.  Keeps people a safe distance.

^^^ yea, I definitely agree with that. At my  high school there were 6 piano rooms and I somehow only wrote music in two of them.  Now at uni there are 4 rooms I can use and there's one piano that's completely magical.  Then there's my piano at home, which is my favorite, but my mom is somehow annoyed by any music that's not classical so I can only write on that piano if she's not in the house, which is basically never.  :?
