I just listened to White Houses and then A thousand Miles back to back before I cast my vote.

ATM, definitely is more powerful.  I love the "Classical" quality of it.  I like white houses a lot, but I love ATM more.

I agree that VC's vocal quality has improved a lot. But I wonder if this is b/c of studio tinkering or actual improvement, or a little of both.  
I loved Vanessa's voice before and I like it now on "White Houses", but I am curious how she sounds live now.

O apathetic knave, with the golden brown eyes.
Go on and pull the cape swiftly over their eyes.
You doth feign care only for those that can get you somewhere.
You shall pay the price for your lack of foresight.

O apathetic knave, with strong arms.
Superficially you appear to be tough.
However, you are just a weak coward, hobbling along.
They'll see right through your mask sooner or later.

O apathetic knave, perhaps someday the tables will turn.
You shall feel a burn, a prick, perhaps a twinge.

I've been writing extemporaneous poetry in my journal for years, mostly as a way to get out sad or frustrated feelings.  It is hard for me to write when I am happy.  So I guess writting gloomy poetry is my therapy for when I am feeling blue.  I've always wanted to share some of my work, but I was afraid of hurting or embarassing people close to me or myself since my writting is so personal.  But seeing all the beutiful stuff people have shared here, I think I am ready to share some of my stuff.

Here's one I wrote a few days before my first real love and I parted ways for the last time.


The Knife-Keeper
 
See how the sun reflects off the shiny blade.
Blinded by the gloomy glow, I stroke the firm, contoured handle.
‘How sweet it would be,’ I mutter to myself.
The tears pour, transforming to blood as they drop onto the sleek blade.
Tipping the blunt point at just the right angle,
I see your blue eyes, gazing obliviously away from me.
I’m not really there.
How come I am always the one holding the knife,
Adorning it with a soft, satiny sheath, while you gaze at it now and again.
The sun’s setting, turning the blade’s reflection from it’s reddish yellow gloom to a cold, gray glisten.
Forever, the knife-keeper, it is time to sleep with my eyes open.

I called my radio station the entire day today ...from 9 in the morning and im still calling...

The DJ said that Vanessa doesnt have too much support out here and as soon as ALOT (he stressed that word) of people start calling in for White Houses, he's not even considering playing it.  

im trying though!

Well that's not cool of them! :evil: I'm sure in a week, that'll change and they'll suck it up!

I used to be a big pusher of Kathleen b/c I had seen her stand up before but she hasn't really brought her a-game to the show.  I think b/c everyone was so afraid to challenge her, she got rusty.

vanessa-carlton.net has a rip of the song from the radio posted on it.  It's better than the one I have.


I LOVE this song. :heart:  The melody is sweet while the lyrics are bitersweet..  Genius!  It's so darn catchy.  I'm not worried about it being "Too poppy" anymore.  This is destine to be a hit!

OMG..that was so awesome and they didn't talk over it that much, either!!!!!!!!! :lol:          
I recorded it from the radio onto a cassette...I am going to look for my PC mic and try to see if I can record a decent version on the computer from the radio recording.  If it works out I'll post a link to it.
