Free show with Gavin DeGraw! I'm surprised no one has posted about this yet. My awesome friend from NYC picked up 2 tickets for me today. I am beyond excited as I am also a huge Gavin fan! Go get em before they're gone! Here's some info:

Live Shows / 9/25/2011 House Of Blues - New Orleans, LA (review)
« on: September 25, 2011, 05:56:26 pm »
She was ON tonight! Awesome. She had a keyboard and the rhodes. No piano. Just Skye was with her, not Ari. I'll try to remember the set in order:

Carousel (with Learning To Fly intro)
Tall Tales For Spring
Fair Weather Friend
Nolita Fairytale (on rhodes)
A Thousand Miles (on rhodes)
London
Hear The Bells
I Don't Want To Be A Bride

Idwtbab was especially awesome cause Ari wasn't there to play guitar throughout the first verse so she played the keyboard. And I was very excited to hear Hear The Bells for the first time! I bought the piano book. She signed it "For Nicole, my little rabbit" haha. She signed and took pics at the merch booth after her set. Also, she said that chocolate rabbits will be for sale starting Monday or Tuesday. I think that's it. It was definitely worth hanging around NOLA an extra day for. :)

Anyone else going to this? I've never seen her in this area of the country before so I'm excited to see how people respond to her there. Hanson is playing the HOB the night before so I was already going to be in town! Definitely gonna stick around an extra day for her. It was meant to be.  ;D

Can't believe it's been 9 years since BnN was released on 4/30/02! I remember that day like it was yesterday... seeing V live for the first time at TRL and the Virgin Megastore right afterwards, meeting Let (and a bunch of other Nessaholics I don't see anymore, wtf? haha) and finallyyyyyyy getting to buy the album that we waited so many months for! I knew that day that I was hooked on her music for life, and it will always be special to me. <3

i just got home. definitely worth driving 6 hours round trip for. she was awesome and beautiful and i cannot say enough good things about her. i always gush, but my god, she is amazing. first of all, i pictured this as being a bunch of people dressed in basketball uniforms... but my friend and i were one of the few people NOT wearing dresses or suits. ugh. it was an extremely nice party. we ate their fancy food with names that i couldn't begin to pronounce, and got drunk on delicious blue hawaiian drinks...mmm. ok to the good part. setlist:

ordinary day
nolita fairytale
heroes and thieves
hands on me
a thousand miles
home

oh, and did i mention i was the only person standing at the stage over the age of 5? yeah. good times. so after the show i walked to the backstage area and got to talking to the lady who had put me on the list. then mark came out and saw me and invited me to come see vanessa, so i went back there... and he goes "vanessa...guest" and points to me, and she jumped up off the couch and came over and gave me a hug. she said "ooo what's that blue drink??" and i said, "i don't know, but it's really good." i was pretty drunk at this point. and i told her good things like the new songs just touch my soul...ya know... all the things a good drunk fan should say, and she kept hugging me. i told her i think The One is probably the best song she's written and she told me stevie is singing back up on it, and she apologized for not playing it. she said she had planned on it but had to shorten the set. don't remember much else, but she said she would see me in new york and that i shouldn't have anymore blue drinks hahaha. i took some videos. i'll post them asap... it's nothing you haven't heard yet, but i'll do it soon.

thank you katia for the sweet hook-ups.  :D

Live Shows / 6/30/2007: Toyota Pavilion - Scranton, PA (review)
« on: June 30, 2007, 09:28:53 pm »
i just got home. i was really moved by her performance...ok i was a total mess. i cried A LOT. but i still feel like it was kind of pointless to go, just because my seats were so expensive and so far away, and everyone around me was talking and not paying attention and appreciating the goddess that was before them...hehehe. it kinda ruined it for me a bit. right when she started singing ordinary day, the guy behind me turned to his wife in all seriousness and says "oh, that's michelle branch." i quickly turned around and corrected him lol. i think the set was:

ordinary day
hands on me
the one (at the end she changed it to "you'll always be MY golden boy." such a small change but i think it makes the song so much better.)
heroes and thieves
nolita fairytale
fools like me
home
a thousand miles

god, she was so amazing. her voice has gotten so much better. i started tearing up during stevie's set just thinking about how moved i was by vanessa. i'm gushing and i sound like an idiot, but i really just GET her songs. they mean so much to me. kna'mean?  :D

me and steve tried to meet her... that was a no go. we did get to meet her dad and victor for a bit. that was cool. oh, and then there was the part where we snuck backstage... but i'll let steve fill you in with the rest of the highlights. goodnight.

I just noticed the date. the 5-year anniversary of BnN. Who would have thought that day at TRL and Virgin Megastore would impact my life this much? I wish more fans from back then were still around. oh well. Who needs em? Ha. Now I just got sooo much more excited for the new album! eeeeeeeeee
