Okay, I don't believe there isn't a topic for these guys yet!  Actually, I don't believe that I had not made one yet.  And I searched but did not find one.  Anyway, Dream Theater is the most incredible Progressive Rock/Metal band ever.  The band is made up of probably the best musicians in the world, in my opinion.  "Awake" is my favorite CD of theirs and I just got the newest CD, "Train of Thought," and it's pretty awesome.    If you like Progressive Metal then Dream Theater is a must.

I've heard a bit of their stuff because some of their music was on the soundtrack of the American version of The Trunks TV Special (known here as "The History of Trunks") from Dragon Ball Z....^^;;  I'm so lame!  However, I remember liking it, it was rad!  Is one of their songs called "Dance of Eternity" because I remember that being one of the songs put in the movie, and it was incredible.  Just total music, no vocal track at all, it was powerful.

Amazing! I agree with Joe, in terms of pure musicianship they're probably the best band in the world.

My favourite album is "Scenes From a Memory (Metropolis Pt.2)", then like Wonkies said "Awake" and "Train of Thought" are also great. In fact, every album is a masterpiece.

It's prog, so it can get pretty wierd, but there's definitely something for everyone.

P.S. A similar progressive rock/metal band is "Symphony X", slightly heavier, equal musicianship (They actually have a guitarist who can match John Petrucci, Micheal Romeo). If you like DT, check them out too.

DT have recently released a DVD called Live at Budokan ...  It's an amazing performance that I would highly recommend.  I've seen them live many times and they have never disapointed.

Yep :) It's off the Metropolis Pt II album. It has an awesome bass solo in it about half way through :D
