it's almost done

do we want the song on its own, or with talking?
ah screw it, you can have the talking

I am so pumped for the new record. I get so excited with new songs. Any chance you can post the rest of the concert, or at least Put Your Hands On Me and This Time please? I'd really appreciate it.

i'm so dissapointed with vanessa. She seems to be resorting to formulaic female lovey dovey pop songwriting style. I'm not impressed at all. .... If she uses these new songs in her next album it is almost guaranteed to be sipped underneath the surface of a thousand other competing pop albums. There's nothing that sounds groundbreaking.... A thousand miles, both the song and the video, were groundbreaking even though it quite a simple melody. I don't see Vanessa achieving the same kind of popularity as she did during the ATM period.... I really hope Vanessa can do well in the future, but I think chances are slim after listening to her new compositions.

I think even Vanessa is aware that she will not have the same kind of success as she did with ATM, but seriously, have you actually listened to the new songs?  Her growth as a writer is undeniable, and most of us on the boards are quite excited about the songs being on the next record.
You're entitled to your own opinion but I think some of what you said was uncalled for. She's not writing "lovey dovey" songs unlike a lot of the artists out there at the moment. It's really sad that it's the shit songs that are the most popular, when true artists like Vanessa have to struggle to get their songs heard.

"lovey-dovey" is the wrong word, I'de have to say love-themed.  they do have originality to them. besides, all is well is on a completely different topic :D

"This Time" isn't about love either.

There's only so many things you can sing about & love is a popular subject because it seems to matter so much to everyone.  It's not like Vanessa's singing cliche lyrics like "I need you, I love you, would you be mine?"...she's sharing her own individual thoughts about love.  Subject-wise, almost everything's been done before.  There are millions of artists writing about war--each one of them is not unique in doing so.  An artist writes what he/she FEELS.  That, along with V's amazing MUSIC (the melody & piano--wow!!) make her a special artist & a great one!
