Here's an article from the HITS Magazine "Rumor Mill" (which isn't really a rumor mill, but pretty much a precursor of things to come). This was posted this morning:

WMG ROSTER CUTS? A Los Angeles Times report says about 170 acts, or 50% of the newly consolidated Atlantic-Elektra label, now known as the Atlantic Records Group, are due to be cut from the combined roster, as Warner Music Group’s new management continues to seek out some $200 million in cost cuts. Third Eye Blind is said to be among those being dropped, while rock superstars Metallicare said to have negotiated to have their next album worked by Warner Bros. following the exit of top Elektra execs. (5/13a)

no, no list, but third eye blind was the ONLY artist specifically mentioned in the la times. other papers have confirmed this, as well as tony himself.
this is what he had to say (posted on TVCY):

Question-if you work for an employer who rightly owes you alot of money and if you quit first instead and get zilch-would you wait to be let go or quit? Elektra is long gone along with all of our friends there. We would get no appreciation at Matchbox 20's vendetta against 3eb label-and we expected this when the merger was called so this is for the best. We will decide after we finish our record weather we want to deal with another label or not. Rock.

i took that as sort-of good news. he's right, it's not the place for them anymore. but i think them not "dealing with another label" is a huge mistake. like, deadly. 8O

i'm sick of them being compared to themselves... bands evolve... 3eb has a new guitarist, which is vital to the band's sound. they're not "doot doot doot" anymore...
and as far as SCL being about meth and sex and blah blah blah, the lyrics describe an indulgent lifestyle that eventually collapses. heh the only meth reference in there is "doing crystal meth will lift you up until you break." doesn't sound like promotion to me.
jackass.
