ok i need to go to bed, but i'll post a little review. she was in a good mood, and she mentioned that the crowd was much better than the crowd at the red cross event she did yesterday, which was full of uptight, conservative, old homophobes who were on pills, and did not pay attention to her. (her words, not mine haha.) and she hopes that there were not any press people in attendance because she's always getting in trouble for her big mouth, hahaha. love her. tonight's venue was pretty small, and just full of college students who were attentive, but didn't really seem to know many songs. everyone seemed to enjoy her performance though, OBVI, i mean she IS amazing and all. her new guitar guys' name is mark, and i didn't know that yet because i haven't seen her since she had skye steele. this might not be in exact order, but i'll try to remember the set list:
nolita fairytale (sound was TERRIBLE, she had to keep pausing and covering her ears)
hands on me (she stopped in the middle because loud noises kept coming out of the speakers, and then left the stage for like 10 minutes while they fixed it.)
hands on me (again, full song this time)
heroes & thieves
white houses
my best (she said this is the only song on the album that is a lie, because she discovered that trying to be the best version of herself with this person ended up not being possible.)
ordinary day (i think she said this was the 2nd song she ever wrote. and she remembers playing it at a small cafe in milford and completely not hitting the high note, and being mortified. and she said they made her change the divide & conquer lyrics on her album because of september 11th, but she will always sing it the original way now.)
who's to say
half a week before the winter
the one (she mentioned how she might not be here playing live right now if it weren't for stevie nicks. and she said this song might be a lie too, because she believes that there are multiple "ones.")
fools like me ("this song is true.")
a thousand miles
home
encore: more than this
it was a great show. she made me cry many times, as always, haha. i know it's weird, but i always feel like a proud parent when she does the piano solo at the end of home, and everyone goes nuts. it makes me so proud to love her. i met ordinaryday6 and her friends, and everyone who hung around got to take pix with vanessa afterwards. that's pretty much it. show #42. can't wait till the next one. goodnight!
