she was told...hmmm...and she's listening to that?  Interesting.  I wonder who told her and why she is listening this time, because I'm sure others have suggested it.
I like her little quips and the tidbits.  I think what she says has value (just like her music) and not just what's she's doing.  She's actually stimulating and makes me want to read things that she is reading and experience things that she's experiencing.  Keep 'em coming!

listening to the langley schools music project - making me incredibly emotional. the instrumentation/arrangement reminds me a lot of "carousel" and what we've heard so far.

no, i agree. everyone who's ever noted her "musical sensibility" is right on, and her taste in music and books is great. so far i've read watership down and the year of magical thinking because of her. will read brief history and will pick up the kerouac letters and the doves album. i am appreciative that she is sharing her inspirations.

The song "God Only Knows" was originally sung by The Beach Boys. And if you'l listen to the original version, you'll get the vibe that I think V is trying to achieve in this record - the blending in the vocals, the sleigh bells, the drums....

I think that "Dear California" might sound a little like this song. After all, it is described as '70's-sun-drenched.'

I was so happy when I realized the children's choir in the video Vanessa posted were singing 'God Only Knows'! It's my favorite Beach Boys single. It was also the theme to the first three seasons of Big Love, one of my favorite shows. Vanessa has really good taste in music.

I'm not seeing that on my twitter page?!  So thank you for posting!  I can't believe her, she is just a genius.  That line came out of nowhere?? Just because they were playing and what not and she was inspired.  Gotta love it.

also loving the fact that she's behind the camera. (at least that is what it seems like where the voice is coming from)

I don't use the word genius lightly, but that's what she is. Love, love. Can't wait to finally hold this record in my hands!

She is amazing, I love to know how the lyrics came out and that example is very beautiful, only with listening that part of the song she created, maybe, the most beautiful chorus in that album.
