They still use the chair there? I thought all states went to the lethal injection thing, saying that the chair was "excessively brutal"

I think their main reason was really that a needle, serenge and drano cost a hell of a lot less than all that electric power!

I think I saw a report on FoxNews where they discussed the place he would go if he got the death penalty.  I'm pretty sure they mentioned the gas chamber...

According to this site, the Jury selects the method of sentencing.  For those in Cali, does the Judge have ANY say at all or is the choice between Life/Death in the hands of the jurors only?

Oh the gas chamber, I had my time in one of those, it was only cs gas though, meant to overstimulate the senses to send you into a state where you're dripping snot and spit and feel as though you can't breathe..........yeah, I miss basic training, where else do you get gassed and then the next day think "Hey, that was pretty cool!"

There is going to be a sentencing/penalty phase that will start in a few weeks (Nov 22nd should last 4 days). More testimony, etc. The judge does not have a say.

I am pretty sure that the jury decides, I might be wrong but I am pretty sure.

capital punishment has long been an issue, not all states currently have it, but those that do have it tend to still use it quite often. I think it boils down to politics, as with everything else, it's either kill the killer or finance the rest of his life in a federal penatentury...........if you were a politician, what would you do?
