It'd likely be smarter to just use guns instead, I mean hell, a bullet costs like all of 50 cents, depending on the size of the bullet, anyway

maybe longer.

The case just seems weird anyway...this made national news.  I didn't think he was guilty, but I didn't really keep up with the trial.

holy frijoles!  I don't support the death penalty, but, he shows no remorse for any of it.  he deserves it.
It is a crime to kill a neighbor, and an act of heroism to kill an enemy.  But who is an enemy and who is a neighbor is purely a matter of social definition.  - E.R. Leach

I don't really understand...  Todd I know you were asking earlier about does the judge have say and he totally does. I don't understand the whole point of having the penalty phase with the jury when the judge can totally give him life if he wants. But if the jury would have said life, the judge could not give him death.

I guess the judge's part will go down in Feb.

Not like of the 500+ inmates on California's Death row only 11 have been executed since the 70's or anything.

I just don't get it.

Wacky state of California for ya.  Let's not forget, you guys are the ones who voted out a governor for someone with no, zilch, nada, none, nothing, governing experience and can't even correctly pronounce the state's name.

He's doing a good job with the cards that he was dealt. Certainly, he's doing a far better job than Davis did. Plus, he's not afraid of offending anyone. He tells it as he sees it. Quite rare in politicians today.

he probably won't be put to death though because Cali. is too slow with their death sentences. they have about 400 people to kill before him...it's going to be a while

he'll most likely appeal it, which would extend the whole thing anyway, but yeah, a person can be on death row for a long time...

I bet he dies in prison (suicide) before he's executed.

No.

Have you guys talked to any lawyers about this case?

The overwhelming opinion by the legal community is that WITHOUT a serious mishap by his lawyer (and even then, he'd still probably get it on grounds of gross negligence of council) then the rulling will be overturned and declared a misstrial.

The judge cannot dismiss the final juror who was making it difficult to get a guilty verdict in INORDER to get the verdict in a NATIONALLY telivised, high profile, muder trial.

None of the 6 lawyers I have discussed this case with think there is a shot in hell of this verdict standing.

So while we may all get a warm fuzzy from this, there's a flag on the play.  Holding, on the offense.  15 yards.  replay the down.

Andy's right.

I don't hold a legal degree, but I follow law a lot.  There's no way this stands.

Also, the prosecution did not show that Peterson was guilty. They just put forward evidence that he acted guilty, not that he actually did something. It's kinda scary that someone can be sentenced to death only on circumstancial evidence.

Anywho... I agree with Andrew. This is gonna be overturned on appeal.
