Spring Street - What do you think?
« on: May 05, 2010, 01:23:11 am »
Spring Street is one of the most unique songs I've ever heard. I like how the way Vanessa put the idea of how the cycle of life goes.

And the 'na-na-na-na-na-na-na' part is contangious. LOL  :D

Anyway, what do you guys think?

And by the way, I made a transcription of this song. I'm not sure how accurate my cover to how V really plays it, but I hope those who want it will like it. Here's the link:

Na-na-na-na-na-na-na . . . .

I was a bit apprehensive to the song at first, but I warmed up to it (just like I warmed up to "Come Undone" and it's . . . umm . . . hella epic intro). There's a whole "life comes full circle" thing going on in this song.

I remember opening VC's website and hearing the Spring Street intro. My speakers were turned up. Woke up the whole house  ;D

At first I really didn't like it and I never played it.. then something clicked while listening to it. "The past keeps on fading, but I'll never forget you." It's so sad!! Lyrically I think it's one of her best for sure.

Find this quite a sad song but I love it  :) A very laid back melody, lyrically definitely a song that you can very much relate to as you get older, and find yourself thinking back to your younger days.

" And everything changes and friends become strangers

Sadly very true

Never too late to change the pace
oh how the days creep up on you
but the goodness is something you don't have to chase
cause its following you

So, I've been reading these boards for awhile, and I once had a username, but I forgot it.

Anyway, I really think Spring Street is one of those songs that need to grow on you. It gets so repetitive and it's such a bland song that it becomes hard to enjoy, at least that was the case for me. After a few more listens, I definitely started loving it because the message is just really beautiful.

I agree. It needs time to make it into your system.

I guess I'm the oddball in this thread, but I loved Spring Street the first time I heard it. I think it was the first song on H&T that I fell in love with.

It's always been my favorite song off the album. It became especially poignant when my best friend and cousin both had baby girls at the same time :)

Haha. It woke up all my teachers at school. It was seven a.m. and I went to her site and forgot to turn down the volume!

I love Spring Street. It's such a good song for growing up.
The song may be over, but the music never ends.
