This is the song she wrote in guitar? It's awesome!  ;D

If she also write great songs in guitar, I guess it would be cool if she go out of her piano zone. ;)

Do you guys think that 'Tennessee' is a real part of the lyrics or she just changed it because it was the place she was in?

I've tried to figure out the lyrics from what we have so far  =)
I'm sorry in advance if I made any mistakes!

I Don't Want To Be a Bride

I like your company, gotta new philosophy.
Never knew such a gentleman.
You could take me on a cheap vacation, I don't wanna have
expectations. Cause you could be the end of me
And I don't need a house on a hill, a swing on a tree, a grandfather clock,
porcelain for tea. A garden with rose and jasmine.
I wanna get drunk on a bottle of wine. No better way to pass the time. Forever by your side.
I don't wanna be a bride. Apologies to your mother, but I
could be your girl and share this life with you. But I don't
wanna wear white, but you know it's too late for that. But
can't we keep the ever after, or could it be.
Don't need no golden ring.
It'd be no match for the love you'd bring,
from London to Tennessee.
We could catch a train to another life
on a wing under the moonlight,
I promise you. And will you promise me?
Our last names on a wooden sign,
arm in arm where the river starts to wind.
Forever by your side.
I don't wanna be a bride. Apologies to each other, but I
could be your girl and share this life with you. But I don't
wanna wear white, but you know it's too late for that. But
can't we keep the ever after, or could it be. Just you and me.
Ah, we will live like kings under lavender, skies
Skies; we will live like kings under lavender, skies.
Skies. We will build a poem we kept a rhyme. wrapped our love in golden twine
We wrote, we wrote a legacy. Just you and me.
Just like kings under lavender skies, skies we will live.

i think "on a wing under the moonlight" might be "on a whim under the moonlight"

(which is unfortunate because i prefer your interpretation)

I thought the same think, if it was an adaptation it worked really well :)

This song is absolutely beautiful. I fell in love with it the first time I heard it - the moment she started singing - definitely got me even more pumped for ROTR.

One thing though - I've been listening to it on repeat for the past couple of days and, as much as I love it, I can't picture it being something most people would want to listen to. By most people, I mean non-NESSAholics. Most of us love it, well, because it's typical Vanessa and we love V, but I just can't picture it playing on the radio. Thoughts?

I think it could capture the ears of other listeners who are non-NESSAholics. I mean, the song has got a theme/idea that is pretty relatable for all who fall in love. Like Who's To Say. Plus, the melody is just so sweet and simple. Perfect for theme songs for couples out there. LOL.  ;D

But really, this song has a great potential. Who knows? Maybe the recorded version would be more butt-kicking...

As for the lyrics, i think Tennessee could be substituted for NYC, maybe.. Three syllables, so it kinda fits

But that logic works for lots of things. And using abbreviations in songs sounds tacky, at least to me.

I Don't Want To Be A Bride lyrics (Nashville 6-19-2010 performance)
------------------------------------------

I like your company, got a new philosophy
Never knew such a gentleman
And you can take me on a cheap vacation
I don't want to have expectations
'Cause you could be the end of me

And I don't need a house on a hill, a swing on a tree
A grandfather clock, porcelain for tea
A garden with rose and jasmine
I wanna get drunk on a bottle of wine
No better way to pass the time
Forever by your side

But I don't want to be a bride
Apologies to your mother
But I could be your girl and share this life with you
But I don't want to wear white
You know it's too late for that
Can we keep the ever after?
Oh, could it be?

Don't need no golden ring
It'd be no match for the love you'd bring
From London to Tennessee
And we could catch a train to another life
On a whim under the moonlight
I promise you, will you promise me?

Our last names on a wooden sign
Arm in arm where the river starts to wind
Forever by your side

But I don't want to be a bride
Apologies to each other
But I could be your girl and share this life with you
But I don't want to wear white
Oh, you know it's too late for that
But can we keep the ever after?
Oh, could it be?
Just you and me
Ah, ah, ah

We will live like kings under lavender skies, skies
We will live like kings under lavender skies, skies -- we will
Built a poem we kept a rhyme
Wrapped our love in golden twine
We wrote, we wrote a legacy
Just you and me
Just like kings under lavender skies, skies
-- (we will)

I always thought she said 'Cause you could be the enemy'. Haven't they got at least the same phonetic sounds?

;D That's pretty interesting. But "End of me" suits the songs better that "Enemy", imo.

it's now "gotta a fresh philosophy" and in the second chorus, "can we keep the ever after, love?" which i adore, it sounds so sweet
