here's a little article...

http://www.citizen-times.com/article/20110131/ENT/110131043

CULLOWHEE - Here’s a Valentine date that won’t break the bank – pop singer and pianist Vanessa Carlton is doing a free show at 8 p.m. Feb. 14 at the Hinds Center Grandroom at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee.

The singer was picked for the show in a poll of WCU students. The concert was originally scheduled for Jan. 10, but scratched due to snow. The Valentine’s timing just makes the show even sweeter

.

Carlton is best known for the hit “A Thousand Miles,” one of the biggest hits of 2002. It earned Grammy nominations for "Record of the Year", "Song of the Year" and "Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist and the tune also became extremely popular with U.S. troops in Iraq. For more on the show, call 227-7206

thanks so much! I think all the positivity and good vibes really helped!  I think that is one reason why I realllly wanted to go..I have a feeling we will get some information.  What do you all think about recording the performance? My husband seems to think I won't be allowed to bring anything in with me.  I will sneak something in if I have to!  That just means I won't be able to get all the stuff I wanted to

Id think you'd be able to record, I mean it's free and at a collage campus. I dot think it should be an issue really but you could always sneak something in. Lol.

Very very hard, on the basis that it might be a bit tricky to play her whole Catalogue of released and non released songs  ;D I will go with the following:

Ordinary Day
Carousel
London
Paradise
Sway
Afterglow
San Francisco
Home
A Thousand Miles
Heroes and Thieves
Tall Tales From Spring
Superhero
All I Ask
All Is Well
A New Track from the new album
I don't want to be a Bride.

Just Carousel and Fair-Weather Friends for me.

And please, please, bring a video cam or something.

even if cameras or recording devices aren't allowed. still bring one anyway. trust me, you can and will be able to sneak it in, and you'll be fine. especially because it's a free show.

any and all recordings you get (even if they turn out super-shitty) will be greatly appreciated =)
like super ultimate ultra appreciated ^_^

don't worry about it, just do it ;)

Kulpdogg, you sound like a pro when it comes to sneaking in camera's in V shows. LOL. Just kidding. (:

And yes, I agree. Any quality will be MUCH APPRECIATED.

oh most definately!  I have a flip, it will fit in my bra if all else fails.  ;D  but I plan on trying to bring my camcorder and my digital camera, which also takes video.  I plan on getting there early, like 5 or so, doors open at 7, so that I can get a good spot.  where do you recommend?  I just thought as close to her as possible!

I agree. As close as possible, so your recording won't be disturbed by unnecessary noise from the crowd.

And if you manage to record her hands on the piano, that'd be a plus on me in making transcriptions for any new songs. But really, having a recordings would make me already thankful. (:
