Woah! So much to reply to... I guess it also depends on how things are done where you live huh? Here you hmm usually hook up first. It can end there or if both are interested, you start seeing each other at other times rather than just drunk Saturday nights, go for coffee, hang out, whatever. If that becomes a regular activity then you either assume you're going out or talk about it and decide you're going out. However, it doesn't go on for as long as months, it happens in weeks, maybe just one week. If you hookup and don't know for sure if you want a relationship it can either end there or you can keep seeing each other on Sat nights, occasionally, and then decide... dunno if it makes any sense lol but it's the way things work here. That's at 18. At 15 a girl would still expect to hear "will you go out with me?" to know it's official and to consider it a relationship.

Usually it's the guys who don't want to move on and just wanna keep seeing the girl and hooking up on Sats, while the girls want to keep seeing the guys and slowly develop into a relationship... I have to say, the "dating" concept is not understood here. If you start seeing someone regularly then he's your bf, not someone you're "dating"

shut up about the whole "it's a junior high thing to ask to go out"
just because thats not how YOU did it doesnt mean people are immature if they do.... thats how everyone my age and even in their 20's does it around here! i like to have solidarity in relationships, and if anyone asks me if he's my boyfriend, i want to be able to give a firm yes or no... it would suck if lets say one of us considered us bf/gf and told everyone that and then the other one didnt. why spend the whole time wondering i the other person feels the same way or not?!

yes i must say from experience, that does royally suck
I'm 22 and i still think its adorable if a guy asks me to
be his gf...if i feel the same way of course.  The wishy washiness of so called "adult" boyz is highly annoying.

yes! i would feel horrible is lets say the guy said that we were bf/gf and i didnt think so... or if i thought we were bf/gf and the guy didnt... either way that sux!

the most important thing in a relationship is communication... and the thing couples need to talk about the most is their status and relationship with eachother. and what better way to make it more clear then asking the person out so you both can be SURE about where eachother are

ROFL.

You girls want the world, but you want US to do all the work for it.

If he introduces you to his friends, his parents, or hold hands with you in public, then hes your boyfriend.  Period.

If he calls you at 2am on a sat, always orders in and never takes you out in public, then you're his booty call.

If I have to spell that out for a girl, then shes not worth my time anyways.

I dont want this to turn into a big argument, but its real easy for you girls to say all these things you want to happen in a dating situation, but what you are really saying is all the things you want the GUY to do.

its not like girls just sit back and watch the guys do everything in a relationship, i've taken him out and invited him places as well as him taking me out! but guys are the ones who ask a girl to marry him, to be his gf... etc! sometimes its the otherway... but only really bold girls do that, and i'm definatly shy
