Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime
Iron Maiden - Powerslave / Somewhere In Time
Impellitteri - Screaming Symphony / Crunch
Iced Earth - Something Wicked This Way Comes
Dream Theater - Scenes From A Memory (Metropolis pt.2)
Narnia - Desert Land
Control Denied - Control Denied
James Murphy - Convergence / Feeding The Machine
Steve Vai - Passion And Warefare
Michael Angelo - No Boundaries
Cacophony - Speed Metal Symphony / Go Off

-Kev

I think of all those bands, the only two I know are Iron Maiden and Queensryche.

Normally, i'd go check out the rest of them, but judging from the two I do know, im guessing I wouldn't like the rest of them either
---Andrew

hehe, those two aren't really representative of the rest of the list. If you hate maiden and ryche, steer clear of Iced Earth and Control Denied too (both also classic metal [i.e. proper metal]). Narnia and Impellitteri are hard rock bands, Dream Theater are progressive rock. All 3 of them have supreme neo-classical lead guitarists. Murphy, Michel Angelo and Cacophony (2 people) are pure neo-classical metal. Vai, is the hendrix of the nineties (only he's better than hendrix, as are all the guitarists on my list ;))

Edit: If you like this kind of thing (below) then it's worth persuing some of the names on there. It's usually love or hate with this kind of stuff though. Just depends on your tastes.

Normally, i wouldn't directly attack a top 10 choice since, first and foremost, it's about personal taste.

But in this case, I want to point out that the song "Smoke"  off of this album is tied for the WORST lyrics of all time.

Then Natlie contributes the always deep and thought provoking line "What's up with that?" to the music world.  As in;

"My Lullaby, hung out to dry
What's up with that
It's over
Where are you dad
Mum's lookin' sad
What's up with that
It's dark in here"

but she says it OVER AND OVER throughout the song ruining a GREAT chorus with HORRIBLE verses.  That ALONE should knock "Left of the Middle" off the list!
----Andrew

It's cool.  Everybody has different opinions

To be honest, that song is not exactly among my favorite Natalie songs either.  I wouldn't exactly call it a black mark either.  It has some really great music and the lyrics are okay (though, I agree, not among the best).  Either way though, IMO, it certainly isn't enough to knock off an album with such great songs as "Torn", "Wishing I Was There", "Leave Me Alone", "Pigeons and Crumbs", and especially the title track.  I will say though, while I still think Natalie is great, I am somewhat disappointed when it comes to "White Lillies Island".  It's decent, but comes nowhere close to "Left of the Middle".

Now, I do agree with you about "Little Earthquakes".  Though "Scarlet's Walk" is my favorite of hers, LE is next.  Though I really do NOT like "Me and a Gun" (due to what the song is about), I really love the other songs on there.  Like "Crucify", "Winter", "Mother", and especially "Tear In Your Hand".
Say you would say you could
say you'd come and stop the rain
say you'd try and hold me tight
and you just give me away
Make me high on lullabies
a melody for me to sway
say you would say you could
and you don't do anything

I reverse LE and Scarlets walk.  LE is #1 for me and Walk is #2.

I don't LIKE "Me and a Gun" because it makes me want to slit my wrists... but its an AMAZING song.  I mean, that REALLY happened to her.  It was actually the first song of hers I ever heard.  Scarry.

Winter is such a great song.  I got to hear "Tear In Your Hand" live a few months ago.

Have I mentioned to everyone that I met Tori yet? hehehehehehe.

Cool. What kind of metal are you into? I find most metal fans (in the traditional metal sense) find it easy to love piano stuff too. There are some amazing metal tracks with piano parts.

for me pretty much all Metallica and Michelle Branch....
Vanessa's album, Soundgardens "A-Sides", Green Day's "Insomniac", The Eagles "Hotel California", Black Sabbath "Paranoid", Led Zeppelin "Houses of the Holy" and "Led Zeppelin 1", Lynyrd Skynyrd "Pronounced Leh-nerd Skeh-nerd (debut album)", Tool "Aenima", almost any Ozzy, especially in the times of Randy Rhoads. Oh yes, and of course, most all Jimi Hendrix
Washington is a dreadfully awful place......this I've learned

Oh

I really like Smoke......

"Why, bleeding is breathing
You're hiding underneath the smoke in the room
Try, bleeding is believing
I saw you crawling on the floor
Why, bleeding is breathing
You're hiding underneath the smoke in the room
Try, bleeding is believing
I saw you crawling on the floor
Why, bleeding is breathing
You're hiding underneath the smoke in the room
Try, bleeding is believing
I saw you crawling on the floor"
