Of course not, if it's not your intention to play acoustic, you shouldn't. Good guitars...... I'd recommend a Squier, they're made by Fender. If you look carefully for one, you might find a guitar that's the same quality as a top of the line Fender.
Squiers are made of "leftover" wood, wood that has not been hand-selected. This does mean, however, the quality differs enormously for every guitar... It can happen that a perfect piece of wood is used for a Squier, and you'll have a "perfect" guitar :)

How about this: Is it possible to skip learning chords and stuff and just go straight into overhand tapping and sweeping runs? lol j/k this time.

I've just recently put a payment down on a 12-string Fender acoustic/electric that belonged to my cousin before he decided that beer money was a little bit more important than the guitar his parents paid $800 for.
