about the 2nd tape leak.
I had made a decision not to upload my tape to any internet servers for public downloading and vowed not to do so until Vanessa Carlton had authorized it.
However, I did make one physical copy and sent it to an individual who understood the ethical issues and promised to honor the ban on open public availability. However, in spite of this individual’s expressed support and recognition of the ban, audio files were made and found their way onto the internet. This is an incredibily unfortunate situation and I am very embarrassed and disappointed to learn that a copy of the tape that I made has been used as the source for this unauthorized release.
To explain this careless breach, the individual with the lone copy of the tape thought that the files were "leeched" while he was sharing them over the internet with a friend. If this is a true, then I will suggest that the files were copied without permission and could be considered stolen. On this basis, I am requesting that anyone who has these unauthorized copies should remove them from public availability, even if they have been converted to other file formats like mp3. There is no excuse good enough to make these files public at this time. Additionally, it is very important that you “destroy” the one song file titled “Wanted”. It is an error. It is a partial copy of the entire song. It was created only as a dolby filter test and was not intended to ever be heard by anyone other than me.
I realize my request may be like trying to “unring the bell”, but if you believe, as I do, that even though all of us who receive this tape were and are determine to share it privately with selected Nessaholic friends, Vanessa Carlton must be allowed to authorize the public release of these audio files. To the best of my knowledge, at this time, she has not done so.
