If you followed the whole demo tape deal, then you know that Tricia scored one of the tapes, but if you recall, the seller had two tapes and while Tricia was working behind the scenes, so was I. I didn’t publicize my intentions in case things didn’t work out. But, I made an offer the seller couldn’t refuse and the seller (“Jessie”) sold me the 2nd tape.
I received “Vanessa Carlton’s Demo Tape” today and have listened to it. It is definitely Vanessa and it is awesome and there is a lot of new stuff. However, except for the representations made by the seller, there is nothing that independently confirms this is an identical copy of the Demo Tapes Vanessa sent to record companies prior to being signed. Though it very well may be the same. As the story goes Jessie’s father was good friends with Vanessa’s father. Vanessa’s dad gave two tapes to his pal because he knew he had two daughters. (Jessie was one.) So it is not a physical demo tape that came from a record company, but it may be identical to demo tapes that were sent to record companies. I am sure Vanessa could let us know, and I intend to try to ask her one of these years. The songs are Vanessa singing and playing the piano. They are fantastic and truly awesome, but you have to remember it is a tape with all the tape type sound quality. Though I think it is very good sound quality. You are all going to want to hear it, and I know efforts are being made for all of you.

To locate the questionable words quickly I have indicated the approximate elapsed time from the beginning of the song. When you get your copy of the tape, give it a close listen at these specific spots in the song, and if you know what the correct lyrics are, then please pm me so I can make corrections.
