Ray Bradbury

The greatest literary mind of our time.  I have gotten to meet him on several occassions and he is an incredibly captivating individual.  He tells the best stories.  The night I first met him, he told this story that was so good, my mom believe it was completely true, despite being historically impossible given when Ray was born.  :)  Anyway, here is a place to discuss the man and his amazing works.

Met Ray Tonight
« Reply #1 on: December 04, 2003, 02:10:40 am »
I got to meet Ray again tonight.  I've met him so many times now I've lost count.  This night was particularly special, as it was the first time I ever have gotten to meet him by myself.  What I mean is no one went with me to see him.  There were plenty of other people there, but I still felt like the only person in the room.  :D  I finally got to ask him this question I have wanted to ask him for years, but never got around to.  Funny thing is, he answered it exactly how I thought he would.  Perhaps I've been hanging around this guy too long?    Anyway, it was an incredible night, he signed my new copy of Dandelion Wine and I got to chat with him briefly about his latest play.  I also got another picture taken with him, thanks to my wonderful mother driving over a camera at the last minute.  (God bless her!!)  I am so lucky to live here in Los Angeles and get to meet the man I consider to be my idol so often that I lose count.

WTF!? That is the name of my old headmaster! And believe you me, from his letters i can definitively say he was NOT a literary genius.

Fahrenheit 451 was grrrrrrrrreat, although I don't usually like Science-Fiction (even though this was only semi-Science Fiction). I started reading Something Wicked Comes this Way, but ADD kicked in, I got confused, so I stopped. But, yeah.

I've been in a thread bumping mood lately, haha

I am ALMOST done reading Something Wicked This Way Comes! Wow it took for like ever lol I only have like four more chapters then I am done! And I like NEVER get through an entire book unless we're reading it as a class. Man this book was definitely challenging to read tho! I gotta do a book review on it for English when we go back on Monday.

The next book of his I am going to read is The Vintage.

My mom still hasn't gotten that roll of film developed.  As soon as that happens I'll post, I promise!  :)

OMG you guys- The Vintage is like the best book! I've only read a few chapters so far, but I got soo into it when I was reading it. You guys should check it out.

And I might get it signed by Ray Bradbury! My friend said that she might go to a UCLA book convention thing & she said if she goes she's gonna get to meet him, & said she'll get an autograph for me! yay!

This will be my 2nd autograph from him, haha the first was way back in 7th grade when I met him.

I read that he will not be signing this year.  I'm going to be going with my girlfriend and when I looked up the information on the LA Times website it had a special note saying that he would not be signing.

Yeah, looks like he'll be talking in Royce Hall and that's it.  I don't know how much more signings and things he will be doing.  I am so lucky I went and saw him in December.  *Reminds self that he needs to get those pictures developed.*
