I thought the same thing the first time I heard Afterglow! They are really alike!
I've never been to a full healinging show of hers, but i know she's sung Twilight last at a few songs... and Afterglow last too. Does she always do those last? Twilight is the last on BnN. Maybe Afterglow will be the last on the next album. I think they are both good endings to albums... cause they're both mellow.
I never thought about Paradise being connected. I always thought Afterglow and Twilight are more about overcoming hard times and seeing the light afterwards. Paradise seems more to me like going through a hard time, but no closure. But maybe they are! I could see if they go in that order Nicole mentioned! All I Ask can maybe fit in that category too? Like wanting to get over a hard time... but not quite?
and I kinda think of Papa and C'est La Vie being alike, but maybe that's just because she always seems to play them together and they came out around the same time

well I see what you are saying Holly....

Paradise to me is about being in denial and not fixing your problem.... then I would say with Twilight you realize you have a problem and you know what you have to do ... with Afterglow... its done and you are free of it.

I feel like C'est La Vie is more of a sad song that angry...

hmmm - i am less in agreence w/ holly and more in an agreence with nicole

i think the three songs together tell a story -

i feel overall that BnN tells a story but i feel the story on BnN the story might be a little bit out of order....

and the whole first trilogy seems to be telling a story

the whole second trilogy thing is just that the songs are similar in style...

i was just saying that I think afterglow and twilight are really alike in what they're saying. i agree with nicole's story theory.

maybe "little mary" and "all i ask" could be thrown in too!
little mary- talking about the reason of depression (not being perfect) and what the girl does about it. but maybe this wouldnt work in the story tho, because she dies in it... and that would kinda end the story, but just a thought.
paradise- realising she has a problem and thinking about what its done to her. but still thinking that she could spend one more day in paradise. So still in denial
all i ask- asking for help to get through trouble... almost asking for guidance?
twilight- learing to say goodbye to and work through her problems
afterglow- when she happy free and ok again.
