Billy Elliot

I searched, and was shocked to find no thread for our Billy!!

I can honestly say Billy Elliot is one of, if not the best film i have ever seen. It was a suprise hit here a few years ago, i have yet to meet anyone who doesn't like it.

Its about a boy who grows up in the North of England during the Miners' strikes and discovers that he can dance- and he's bloody amazing! His teacher wants him to try out for The Royal Ballet but his family won't let him, basically because they're nothern men- and they can't cope because Billy's mum has died. lol, i adore this film, its not too soppy that you won't believe it, you can really feel the twinge of real life but its not too gritty that it doesn't have a happy ending.

All in all its THE BEST (and Tatiana likes it, so i must be right)! And if you can't get it there i will send you all videos of it, lol. Oh and The Royal Ballet building he goes to is my mum's old school, another reason you MUST see it, hee hee.

OMG! There wasn't a thread for Billy Elliot and I hadn't noticed? Well, thanks Rosie dear :)

I absolutely adore this film! It's one of my favourites! I remember I fell in love with Jamie Bell back at the time - even though he's like a 1000 years younger than me... yeah, call me cradlesnatcher :P And Julie Walters is fantastic! (for those of you Harry Potter lovers, you'll recognise Julie Walters cos she plays Molly Weasley in both films, HP 1 & 2)

The soundtrack is pretty good too. All sorts of 80s songs as well as (ugh) a super chessy song by ex-Boyzone Stephen Gately and (Yay!) a song by Eagle Eye Cherry which I love called Burning Up.

I like it, it's a cute film, but I get bored of most things I watch more than once :?

I agree with that statement.

I could not watch the whole thing, because it was just boring to me...

Maybe you just didn't make an effort to comprehend it, or don't understand the context. Its not flashy, and full of big stars like probably most films you see.
