An Angel
« on: January 17, 2004, 01:07:10 pm »
I’ve been thinking about this, because it’s almost been a year since my friend passed away. She is truly an angel and the best person I have ever known! She was the kindest person in the world, she wasn’t capable of hate, seriously! She loved anyone and everyone! If someone was lonely or needed someone to talk to, she was always there! She had this glow in her eyes which could light of a room! She was one of the first people I met my first year of high school and just her being there made being a freshman more bearable! She could make anyone laugh, and lighten any mood! She was diagnosed with cancer when she was almost 15, a tumor was found near her eye. They fought for 2 years to try to save her. At one point she was even going to come back to school! But then it got bad, it got in her spine and there was nothing the doctors can do.  She went home to live out the rest of her life there. It was SO hard on her, but she always kept a great attitude, even up to the day she died. She didn’t want anyone pitying her. She passed away the day of her 17th birthday. It was one of the worst days of my life! But I know she’s an angel looking down on all of us! Please pray for her family, as it’s almost her birthday/death day again and it’s probably immensely hard for them!

A poem I just wrote about her:
“Your beautiful smile will never fade
The glow in your eyes is always ablaze
I can’t believe your gone even though a year now has past
But our love for you Ashley will be one thing that will last
Your kindness touched so many lives
You were always so cheerful, pretty and wise.
I can’t believe it’s been a year since you passed away
But you’re our angel and we think of you each and every day”
"i'm willing to do anything
to calm the storm in my heart
i've never been the praying kind
but lately i've been down upon my knees
not looking for a miracle
just a reason to believe"

  That's so sad.  Children dying. . . so incredibly unfair.  I will most definately pray for her family.

I'm sure she's watching over you, Holls.

I'm sorry Holly, I know that must have been hard on you, she seemed like a wonderful person with an amazing heart.

My sisters ex boyfriend was shot and murdered, about a month ago, and many people still haven't got over it, because he was such a great guy, you can't forget someone like that.

Rest In Peace, Carl Robles

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free.
I'm following the path god laid for me,
I took his hand, when I heard him call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day
to laugh, to love, to work, or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way
I found a place at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah yes, these things, I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much:
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief.
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me Free"

Thats so sad. I will never understand why people like that die, but maybe it was to teach you something- and its clear you've become stronger because of it. And plus, you have to carry on her name which means  you're extra kind!

I am stronger because of her! Her strength makes me want to do so much more. She truly touched my life, and I don't use that term lightly. There was just something about her... no one I've met comes close.
She once wrote a poem, I wish I could find it! She said that she didn't know why God let her have cancer, but maybe it was so she could be an example and show people going through the same thing to be strong and have hope.
She also helped bring my class of 2004 at my school closer together. We now all have the initials "AB" on our senior sweatshirts to represent her.

Thats really sweet.

At my school people wear shirts, sweaters, hats, all kinds of thinks with Carl's picture on it.

4 people at my school have died this year, it was a big shock to all.

My friend Jessica Howard her friend died of Cancer, A boy at my school died of Leukemia, a very shy and quiet girl committed suicide about a week before Carl's murder, then Carl died.

I think we all remember each one of the people who have passed, but Carl had a really big impact on everyone, thats probably why he is most remembered throughout the distict/school/community.

I'm sure Ashley is watching over you everyday.

holly, you succeeded in making me cry   that's so sad, i'm so sorry you and her family had to go through that. She must be so proud of you and your class for carrying on and learning something for her!

Holly - I'm so sorry...
To die so young and miss out on so much is so awful.

But you're stronger because of her and she helped the people around her remember to be positive no matter what, so she achieved a lot before she died...

My love to you and her family...

Tomorrow is the 2 year anniversary of her death and would be her 19th birthday. Her parents want everyone who knew her to write a birthday message and put it in a yellow balloon to send up to her. That is so sweet. If you all could, that'd be cool too.

I'm so sorry for your loss.  That is such a tragic story.  I believe that you will see her again in Heaven.  If you hold onto that, the fact that you will see her again, it really helps.
