Oh this reminds me. I had a question I hoped somebody with a military background or knowledge might be able to answer.

Why are we (the allies) not taking the usual approach of heavy air strikes before sending in troops? Just wondering.

Yep... no more time wasting with an organization that refuses to uphold it's  own resolutions... if the world wont demand the UN function or step aside.. I'm glad there's at least 5 countries that will...

OK.. personal commentaries aside...  Kev.. believe me we will... we'll hit most if not all radar sites and anti air sites we know of... any military buildings we can find and any vehicles stupid enough to show themselves...

Are you familliar with "Shock and Awe?"  It's a psychological technique where you slam them so hard in the beginning with so much firepower that they are so absolutely demoralized that their military simply collapses and gives up.  That's the plan.  (I learned that from tori (cheapandevilgirl) she's a smart one).  We just tested the MOAB bomb.  The largest conventional warhead.  GPS guided so it's deadly accurate and nearly twice the size of a Daisy Cutter.  Needs it's own C-130 to drop it...  We are definitely going to start with airstrikes... and personally when their over...  I think you'll see 100's of thousands of white flags coming from Iraq... and we'll simply walk into Baghdad...

and that's not a great schedule for a carrier?  maybe on the weekend they bake the key into some brie and whoever finds it gets to drive the next week??? ;-)  LOL

That's good (in one sense) to hear. I was getting worried for a moment that they were just gonna send in our men. Seeing the pics in the newspaper of the troops lined up in the desert has made it a lot more real as of late.

Can you imagine an aircraft carrier called the Bill Clinton???  It doesn't have that awe inspiring sound like the others does it?
