Haha yeah I have to jump an octave too! It's good for developing range though.  :)

M or F, doesn't matter to me. It is the emotion and the passion that matter to me. My favourite singers include:

Guys: James Hetfield (Metallica), David Byron (Uriah Heep), Alice Cooper, Dallas Green (Alexisonfire), Sonny Sandoval (P.O.D.)

Girls: Shakira, Kate Bush, (and of course VC)

I feel the need to post to this thread again since it's been nearly 2 years since that post on page 1.  I still love to listen to female singers so much more.  I'm not sure I can say why, but in my car right now are Katharine McPhee, Shannon Thomas, Vanessa Carlton, and Anna Nalick. :D

i dont really have a preference..

i love maynard keenan's voice from Tool. esp. when he sings w/ a perfect circle, and on the most recent tool album 10,000 days... his voice is beautiful.
and when he sang with his friend tori amos at her concert...


i also love fiona apple's voice.. ben jelen has a great voice too.. hmm

yeah can't decide.

I prefer female singers, a majority of my music in my iTunes consists of female singers. No matter how good a song is sung by a male soloist, i always feel that i would like it more if it was sung by a female. A few exceptions are Enrigue Iglesias and Brian McKnight.

I think i like female singers better, i dunno why. I guess cuz they're mellower to listen to. Most guy singers aren't that mellow. Vanessa can make me high on melodies.
Faves would be : Vanessa, Cristina Scabbia from Lacuna Coil, Lacey Moseley from Flyleaf, Amy Lee from Evanescence, Kelly Clarkson, and Norah Jones.

Guys: Trent Reznor from NIN, Adam Gontier from Three Days Grace, Gerard Way from MCR, and David Draiman from Disturbed.

I like male voices backed by bands or their own instruments, mostly rock bands. The only male singer I like to listen to who is a real, trained singer is Andrea Boccelli. I guess you could consider Jason Mraz a bona fide "singer" as well since he went to school for musical theater and can sing classical stuff very well... but yeah, mostly guys in bands or who play instruments.

I like girls voices in a more versatile way. I like actual singers like Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera- even though they arne't necessarily "singer/songwriters" (though MC does write a lot of her music). I also like girls who play piano usually.
