Whatever you do, do NOT go into food service. My friend talked me into applying for a job at this smoothies place in the mall, and yeah I ended up quitting after a very short amount of time... just some words of advice. haha

I don't know, I think it would be rather fun to work in a book store ( I specifically applied for the music section though), but I suppose it would get boring after a while..

burger king is teh kewl, yo!  ding, fries are done!

*cough* seriously though... a bookstore or a music store sound like kewl places to work that I could suggest... though I've never had a job at either, I've just gotten jobs as student labor at my school, I just think they'd be kewl.

I worked part-time in a video store for two years.  I got paid $5.15 an hour to sit and watch movies and TV for 6 or 7 hours a day.  It was a blast! :D

I worked food service for 2 years.  Not a bad gig at all.

I've also worked in a bookstore for about 4 years.  Also not a bad gig.  I work for an independent used bookstore and make WAY more than B&N, Borders, etc pay.  It's nice.

A job is a job.  I think it's hilarious that people get all picky about it.  While you're still in school and have little or no job experience, you're lucky to find anywhere that will pay you money to show up.  My little brother (16...17 tomorrow) works at both Jamba Juice and Little Caeser's.  He's got bank for a little boy. ;)
I think you underestimate the level of my sneakiness

Tonight I learned that most of us enter occupations in sympathy with our 3
dominant strong suits; this can limit the opportunities we actually consider!

The best advice is make your summer gig as enjoyable as you possibly can
and hopefully you find it rewarding & fulfilling - best outcome regardless

It's a waning local chain called "What's the flick?"  All of its locations have now closed or been sold off but one, and it's not doing well against the Movie Gallery across the highway.

Work at a place that is a chain store so that when you go to university you are more likely to get a job there too, then you have money and a greater likelihood of a future job!

Yeah, food service is not terribly fun, but when you are in school and don't have job experience, especially if you are younger, it is hard to find a job anywhere except in food service. As you get older you can move up and try to get better jobs, especially if you've worked at the same place a while because that shows you are dependable and stick with things.
For all you broken hearted lovers lost, go find another one. 'Cause you know time won't wait and you'll be late, white rabbits on the run...
