Michelle on MAXIM was awesome. It was cool, becuase it was different and unexpected. I really don't think that Michelle doing the MAXIM shoot makes her a slut, since she hasn't done anything else like that since. Some people are uptight, and insecure..

I don't think she's a slut either, but your logic is flawed.  She's not Britney or Christina.  There probably hasn't been a real demand for a Michelle repeat performance.  Now if you said you don't think Michelle is a slut because she was and still is in a monogomous relationship, that would make more sense.

I meant she doesn't usually dress like that. She said herself she was having fun and doing something different. On her CD covers, she wears clothes (Christina had no shirt on "Stripped"). In her video, she wears clothes (Britney was naked in Toxic, Christina wore chaps in Dirrty). I'm saying it was a once-so-far thing for Michelle. I don't think it was a flawed statement. She is dressed at awards shows, and all that.

I think Shades is saying that your BEHAVIOR qualifies you as a slut, as opposed to what you wear. Girls who wear jeans and t-shirts but continually have multiple sexual partners could be considered sluts, whereas someone who dresses in miniskirts and tube tops but has been married to the same guy for 10 years without cheating on him is not a slut.

Ahhh the number of times this argument has gone round in circles- with Michelle and now with Vanessa. People making the point that she can do what she wants are right, but that doesn't stop other people being affected by her decision. If you personally are not affected by her decision because you don't object to it, then fair play to you (i am in the same camp as you). But don't dismiss other people and their opinions who are affected by it. They have an equally valid point as well- that vanessa seems to have conveyed the message that she wouldn't do anything like this.

I don't know how anyone can respect that. Michelle looked like a christina, like everyone. I was so proud that Nessa was diffrent, and now she's just the same, like all the britneys and christinas. The picture cuts off at her stomach, if it ever goes that far. And it's just a tiny little picture in the bottom right hand corner of the page (I was pissed about that). Not worth buying. It was more worth buying because of Jason Mraz. For as liberal as Vanessa is, some of these hardcore fans around here seem to be very uptight about this issue. Lighten up.

Nudity can be beautiful. Nudity doesn't have to be crass or pornography.
I understand that this will disappoint some people, but I think it's unfair to classify her with Britney, Christina, etc, because then you'd have to classify any model who posed nude for a photoshoot, for a painting... All those women in paintings from the 1700s, etc, when nudity was REALLY taboo, all the nude ones, are they all sluts, too?

Oh. I saw this issue last week in the grocery store. It's already out here. I was hoing for a full page pic. But it was tiny. Jason Mraz's was hot.. But Vanessa's was so small I didn't buy it, so I don't have it. Just saw it. Sorry kid.

It's sooooooooooooooo not a big deal.  Wanna know a secret?  I posed semi-nude for my boyfriend (a photographer) last night.  And the pictures look really cool!  You can't see anything obscene...the photos are just pretty.  

Vanessa is the farthest thing from a slut...but even if she wasn't, why would that affect the way you hear her music?  We're fans of her MUSIC!
