I had no idea it was an "opening act warm-up" thingy coupled with a few new songs. If I had a criticism of the show, it was the brevity of it.
Ghisy and I managed to get right up against the stage, at one of those weird "half-tables" that make you think Willy Wonka designed them. It said "reserved", but seeing as last time I had had ENTIRELY enough of that, I just sat down anyway, then just said that someone sat us there.
If I had been bumped for a record company weasel, I would have stabbed someone in the head.
OD was interesting. I don't know exactly what happened during the "noise" part before the bridge, but Vanessa handled it as smoothly as possible. Whatever it was that went south, like a preamp or something, was like amplifying a lawnmower engine....not exactly good accompaniment for a waltz!
The new songs are great. I don't know about anyone else, but every time I hear a new VC song, I'm reminded of how much I love her music...and that I cannot put my finger on what it is exactly that makes me so nuts over it. Such is the magic of music; it just cuts through the BS.
She mentioned that she's going to be on "Cribs", then said words to the effect of "here's the song that paid for my crib", and then played ATM.
She actually came out to the bar area afterwards and took pics and signed autographs....awesome! She really appreciates her fans, no question.
I just wish it had been longer!
And the drinks were cheaper.
