George and Ira ROCK!
even if half of their musicals are just crazy plots written around the songs.

I played Edith Herbert in a little known Gershwin Musical called My One and Only in high school.  and my freshman year in college I was in the ensemble of  Of Thee I Sing (another one no one's heard of...lol) Both have insaaaaaaaaaane plots but they are hella funny.

Someone to Watch Over Me is one of my standard audition songs AND right now im working on Naughty Baby in musical theatre class. Gotta love Crazy for you

yea i think its safe to say i love Gershwin

I'm more into the "American in Paris" as opposed to Rhapsody in blue..."I could have danced all night" is another great one. Great topic!

Yeah, I thought so too.  Everyone's always talking about the new artists as opposed to the classics.  I thought it'd be nice to bring a bit of that here.

"Someone to Watch Over Me" was Lisa and I's first dance at our wedding... :)

(sidenote: though a beautiful song, i was never quite sure if I should take offence that my wife picked it.. LOL "though he may not be the kind of man most girls think of as handsome..."  :( :( :(  LOL )

lol Jason

It is a great song!  That's so cool that you had it at your wedding.  I've been trying to think of some songs for mine.

Jason that's so romantic!  I grew up listening to all kinds of music, and I am heavily into showtunes.  I was in a community theatre group and we did a review one year.  My feature was singing "Someone to Watch Over me!"  Also in highschool a few years ago we were celebrating George's 100th Birthday so at the concert we sang a medly of "The Man I Love" "I've Got a Crush On You" and "Plenty Of Nothin."  And let it be written that "Crazy For You" is one of the best, most underrated shows in Broadway history!
