. For Carlton's duet, Charbonneau used two e 845 microphones to record the vocals of both the artist and her fan. "The fan is a girl from Ukraine who has an amazing story about coming to America," he reveals. "She's an accomplished musician. She reads and writes music, and did very well."
The chosen song was Carlton's breakthrough single, "A Thousand Miles," the video for which received heavy airplay on MTV. "It was recorded in a loft in New York using two grand pianos, side by side, with both of them singing and playing piano," Charbonneau noted. "We took probably five takes of the song. It came out really well. I was very satisfied with the outcome."
