The radio doesn't play it much, I think.  If they did, I'm sure everyone would stop listening to any stations that played it all together.  I'll admit that the song is overused, especially since I think it's replacing rick-rolling, or it's monopolizing trolling all together.  For it to be cliche...well, we'll have to  wait for people to stop listening to the damn song. .-.

never heard the song and I don't think I will look for it based on what you are all saying but I love the music in this video!  I just love the way a piano sounds!

YES, for your own good, don't listen to the song, unless you want to get obssed with the 'friday friday' line.

I did it...I listened. I couldn't help myself.  I kept seeing things about it on the internet and thought I really had to be in the know on this one.  So yea.  Basically everything you all have said.  As annoying as all get up.  She can carry a tune I guess, but is very nasal and not my taste at all.  The lyrics are unimaginative and funny where I think she was not trying to be funny.  The "friday friday" did get stuck in my head a little but I forced myself to NOT think about it, but my husband still says it every once in a while.  The piano in the video clip was so much better!

That was a mistake. o_o  Honestly, I will never be able to say or listen to the word "Friday" without that song coming to mind--I hope it gets cliche, fast.

It's official: I learned the whole thing. .-.  I am slightly disappointed in myself...

yep! I dont like the song at all
but the friday friday line is on my head!   :o damn she is good
That's good! Course I still hear 'Friday, Friday....' in my head haha. But your right, with just the piano it's not bad :)

It's an evilly catchy song, and yeah, once you get past the voice and lyrics... it has the potential of being a good song.

I'll be honest: I hate the song, but wouldn't you agree that without the lyrics or the monotone voice, it sounds better on the piano? :P

I'm currently anti-Youtube for posting videos. :X

I took it done. I'm recording it again. .-.

I recognized your face pretty quickly--Adam Romano. I'm sorry to say that I unsubscribed from your original channel.  :-X I originally subscribed because of random songs that you uploaded a while back (which I guess are no longer on your channel?).  I just remember listening to it during the winter a few years back (I don't remember the name).  I had no clue you were a Vanessa fan, too... or is that what originally caught my attention?

I wish you all the best for your musical endeavors. :)

If I could share all my interesting conversations,  I would. There's too many of them (deleted a while go and saved).

Videos 3 and 4 for the soundcheck are getting me rather excited for the album. I can't wait to learn/transcribe the full thing. :D

Vanessa Songs / Lyrics / Sheet Music / Re: Favourite live performance?
« on: February 17, 2011, 07:26:12 pm »
She's always been playing this intro since the HAT era.

She's also played it in the Harmonium era--not the same but similar.

On topic though:
My favorite performance has got to be this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMuWRz-_Lbs
There's something about it....

I thought it was the guitarist, Ari or whoever it is (:-X) ... Anyway, I like this version; the performance is more upbeat, compared to the last one.

^ Nevermind, it is Ari.

Thanks :)  "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" sort of inspired me (all thanks to Frankenstein, curse you Shelly). I don't really see much Gothicism in it though.

1.) The ending of "San Francisco": "And I know what you did in San Francisco." I like how it fades out.
2.) The beginning of Papa: the "hard" part. From time to time, it's a nice little break from other stuff I play.
3.) The bridge of "Afterglow"
4.) Not really a goosebump effect but just a little pep: the intro of "Nolita Fairytale"
5.) The "With you all I know is I'm coming home"~Outro of "Home"
6.) The bridge of "All I Ask"
7.) The beginning of "London" (The one from the Hotel Cafe performance)
8.) The intro and ending of "Carousel"

That is basically what I was saying, but used her words from the song to explain.  I know that it's not 'shallow' as you say.  What I mean is, I realize that questioning of faith comes from more than just not getting answers, literal or otherwise, from deities.  It comes from a yearning as we mature and get older to have answers that we can only find within ourselves.
I didn't realize though, that agnosticism was questioning itself, I thought it meant something else!

Eheh, no, I perceive agnosticism as questioning; typically, it's a form of atheism that doesn't outrightly say that a deity doesn't exist; rather, it's a belief where it's said that it's impossible to know if it exists.  I guess that makes sense.

I get what you mean. My cousin, although he's relatively young, already questions his faith [so much for confirmation...].

Although I'm not going, I'm so excited.  I'm looking forward to any tidbit of news about the album (other than what we already know).  I think I'll save the rest of the songs for when it's released.

Whoever's going--have fun!

75
yes, especially because she says, 'they never answer back'  could be a questioning of faith, rather than agnosticism.  The whole song is kind of about (to me) what ifs and things she may have done wrong, growing older and maturing.  As we grow older we question things more and try to find answers.  we question these heavenly creatures and whatever god we were taught to believe it, and when they don't answer back, we must look into ourselves for answers.
Sorry, just a tangent, maybe not exactly what the song is about..

No, no, that's what I took it as.  I don't think her song is as shallow as to why the moon doesn't respond when we talk to it (paraphrased, y'know?), or that could just the inner-me thinking and misconstruing what she actually wanted to talk about.

I always took agnosticism as a questioning of faith, iff the person was of faith and turned away--basically wondering whether or not if God (or whatever it is defined as in any religion) exists...Even if it is only slightly right.
