way too pricey

It's about the same for stuff in the same weight and size class. Maybe you want a brick. I don't.

Quote from: "Ghisy"
you have to use their stupid ITunes program to transfer the songs

iTunes is the second best mp3 player ever. The first best being SoundJam, the product Apple bought to make iTunes.

(i.e. can't use it as a portable hard drive)

Ummm... no. I used mine this summer to transfer some DV footage from my computer to a G5 for editing. I have no idea where this myth came from.

Quote from: "Ghisy"
battery doesn't last long enough

I get about 8 hours. I don't really ever use it longer than that in one sitting. For long road trips, I have my car adapter.

Well... the biggest flaw with the iPod is that IT'S MADE BY FUCKING APPLE AND APPLE SUCKS.

Ahem.

And musicmatch > iTunes

Pity the MP3 CD players are the size of a small house

-Kev

uhhh my mp3 cd player is the size of a regular discman....and i use it in my car, not like my car doesnt have the room to fit one discman  :o

Also ive never burned a cd and had it not play, it plays any cd's, it will even play mp4 without the video =)

Compared to a solid state MP3 player or MD player they are huge.  Easily 3 times as large and twice as akward to carry around.

Did you fail to see i only use it in my car. its in my car right now.  I never carry it, its extremely cheap, 2aa's last 40 hours, im set on using some little tiny thing i would probably use and constantly have to change the songs i have on it or bring inside to recharge or change my playlist.  I keep the whole thing in my car, all i ever have to carry is a cd every now and then from my house to my car on the occasion i feel i need another 12 albums in my car.  Its pretty damn convenient in its situation.

But I have to say I love the feeling of anything going up my butt, it just drives me wild.

Ahem.  Get an indash player then.  Better quality audio and no wires.

Also, I wasn't arguing that size was a factor for you.  I was simply pointing out that it IS, in fact, smaller than a CD mp3 player.

And you seem to have conceeded that point.  So there is no point in discussing this.

@Will - Yes, MM uses a lot of memory.  But that is LARGELY because it loads it's AWESOME database into RAM.  The database is what makes the program so bitchin in the first place.

Umm... what does that have to do with anything? Those numbers are how much disk space the executable and accompaning files take up, not RAM usage.

A bit off topic but I just wanted to know, what is an IRiver SlimX-550?

I was looking it up and I'm a bit confused.

I have the RCA 40 GB mp3 player.

Yeah it's big, but it was only $170 at Best Buy.  For a savings of over 200 bucks, I'll take the bigger player thank you very much.  And I can still fit the RCA in my back pocket and that's all that matters to me. :D
I think you underestimate the level of my sneakiness

I know. I'm too lazy. It's not like I actually spend much time in XP.

I didn't actually pay any attention to the picture.  I Just assumed you were throwing up the usual complaint about MM... which is it's RAM usage.

You were using it's HD memory usage as a complaint?!?  WTF, yo?  Who cares about 20 meg of HD space?!?

Wasn't complaining. Just finding some way for MusicMatch > iTunes = true.
