Should NESSAholics.com be the "Official" fan club?

We already have over 500 members!  Wouldn't you like to see us become the "Official" fan club?

Please note, we are NOT referring to our forums, we are referring to the website, nessaholics.com, as a whole.  The website is comprised of pictures, media, etc., and any other Vanessa and NESSAholic related material submitted by NESSAholics.  The forums are just one entity of the site.  Also, we are not talking about taking over Vanessa's site.  We are talking about making a concerted effort, along with her management, her site, and our site, to promote Vanessa and the fans.  Just a simple fan club.  We all once heard about an "official fan club" being created by her Street Team, that never happened and her Street Team seems to have disappeared.  We already have much support as an unofficial fan club and we would just like to see what your opinions are on making it an official fan club.  If you vote no, please give us a reason why and we will see if we can improve those areas.  If you vote yes please give a reason why you are supporting us.

If those voting No don't wish to openly speak up that is understandable.  Based on the results from this poll, we might create another poll with the above options... in the end, all we want is feedback.

I voted no (just now 11:00 a.m. East Coast).  Don't ask me why, but I don't think it's a good idea for an unofficial fan website to become the official fan website--I think it leads to nothing but bad things.

I've seen this with other websites.  Like a University of Montana football website (I visited from time to time).  This site was unofficial--much like this one--and when the athletic department said "why don't you become the OFFICIAL message board for UM athletics?" they were very excited...

It led to disaster.  The old administrators constantly bitched and moaned about something.  The new administrators basically took over the damn thing, and made it a MUCH less fun place to be.  I think they eventually ended up in court over control of the board...

That's all I'm going to say because I don't feel like this is something to argue over.  I love this place--you guys know that--I do it for your own protection.

I voted no

as compared to the 20000 some odd members of the official board, this board is small, it would be like stepping her fan club back a year.  I know some of you liked the board better, but we arent  really here to be happy and have a nice little pleasant board, its more along the lines of promoting Vanessa.  Since some of the most sacrificing fans have left the official board a lot of info just isnt there anymore.  I think tour info, and show info is important to those who dont post or barely post, those too lazy to go find nessaholics.com.  For this reason i dont think it would be fair to take all of the knowledge shared among everyone here and just keep it to ourselves.

Pete.  This board is not the fan club.  The site, nessaholics.com, and what we're trying to do with it, is the fan club.  This board is just an entity of the site.  I guess I need to make that clear in my thread on VC's board.

i realize that Joe, i think its greedy for these reasons

 because there are way more members there and i doubt they all want to run around joining new message boards because 2.5% (yes thats how much of the official board members are here) of the members just plain dont like it on that board

if i run a search that is her site, and it comes up first, so where to go to find out the most updated info but there....If all of you people just drop that board and move here people will be left in the dust, which in turn will hurt Vanessa's fanbase since they will be unable to get info on shows and events considering the most involved members are here now

I just dont like the idea and i think its degrading to Vanessa that her board members are either flamers or people who run away from their problems

Again.  You are not seeing the difference between this board and a fan club.  The fan club has nothing to do with this board.  The fan club would, hopefully, combine with the management of her official site and there would, hopefully, be links this website (NOT THIS FORUM) when referring to a FAN CLUB (NOT THIS FORUM).

this site isnt being updated as regularly as it should be if it is going to be the official fan-club --- i mean the central park meet-up isn't even up on events - they isnt a place to download media and view pictures that were not taken by nessaholics which i think is vital now that v-c.net isnt doing thier thing anymore, vfan.com isnt either - the ideas for atr isnt up on the front page - i think some of this stuff should be headlines ----

I just think going for something like this invites a power struggle that I wouldn't wish upon you guys.  Seems like there was enough of that with one little thread on the ATR forum.
