its different for everyone.

but i'll tell ya its awkward the first few days... just get to know people and try to find true friends, although it might take you a few weeks to figure out whos who :p

college is amazing if you have good friends there.

if not, then it'll suck

yeah me too.  my mom says college is wonderful and etc but i'm nervous.  i'm going to the university of connecticut, but my brother goes there and he's older and has a car so he can drive me back home which is good i guess.  idk.  i'm just shy, and uconn is huge, so i feel like i will have a hard time opening up...

The college I went to is more of a commuter college so I didn't have the dorm experience, but the general feeling I get from people who did is that if you have good friends/roommates it is an awesome experience, if not it will kind of suck, especially if you are farther from home and your home friends.

The best advice I can give about college is just be yourself. It is a whole different world than high school, which I was very happy about  :lol:.

I feel the same as Q   I was incredibly nervous going into the experience, but now I love it and don't want to leave.  Just be sure to be as open as you can and get involved in a club or two - or some other activity.  On a big campus like that, that's probably one of the best ways to get to know people.  You'll be just fine, it just takes a bit of adjusting.

feeling nervous is fine. just remember to be yourself and be nice to others. if you're nice to them and they aren't to you, then they're not worth wasting more of your time. just look for other nicer people there and make friends.

joining clubs is a great way to meet people. I haven't joined any clubs but I go around and stay where they (club members) stay so I still got to meet a lot of people.

It's all right...just make good friends, and study...but not so much you're not having fun.  Find the balance for you.

Dorm rooms are interesting...and can get messy on the weekends...but if you have good people living around you, the experience is great.  It's all what you make it.  Find an organization that seems interesting, and you'll have a good year.

I can't promise that you'll love it, but it should be fine.

As terrible as that sounds, just consider that I actually did earn my B.S. and my M.S. and am currently working on my Ph.D.

yeahhhhhh, I am considering the whole Ph.D. thing. But the more I think about it, the more I want to poke myself in the eye.
