Vanessa Carlton is #46 on the Billboard Hot 100 album chart, selling just 17,433 according to HitsDailyDouble.

That's not that bad, actually. A lot more than most people have been predicting. And I expect it to remain about the same for the second week. I mean, the video's doing really well on VH1, and hopefully there will be more press.
Why don't you come on over? Stop making a fool out of me.

Disappointing but at least she made it to the top 50. It's really sad that one of the best albums of the year is selling so bad.

This is just the first week sales guys! Back in the day artists and bands never debuted highly. They worked their way up the charts. Let's give Nolita Fairytale some time. Maybe more stations will pick up on it. If not, there's always a second single to hopefully increase sales.

Yeah but now albums drop 30-50% after the first week sales. That's the problem.

What I would give to "just" sell 17,433 in the first week!

She may not ever repeat the success of "Be Not Nobody", but most artists can only dream of what she is accomplishing now.

If Vanessa becomes promiscuous singer, she can sell over 7 million of copies.. hehe

But NOOOO

I'm really glad for her start
And I'll be buying mine as soon as it gets to Brazil...

I love this Aussiebrit... 50% from Australia, and 50% from United Kingdom

I was hopnig it would do better, but that is pretty good. but it should be higher. just cause its not high on the charts doesnt mean anything. as long as us fans like the music thats all that matters. Nollita fairytale is such a great single. love it.

I've been watching to see how it's doing, I'm glad that it seems to be off to a pretty good start, i loved Harmonium and was sad it didn't get the recognition it deserved, hope more people become fans because of this one.

The biz is a whole different world now.  It's not done changing.  You have things like singles being released several times, like Pink's, that take a year to catch on.

I think #46 is pretty good to start off with.  Sure, we were hoping for more, but it could have been much worse.

In the future, artists may end up making more money by touring or getting songs into commercials or movie soundtracks.  I think even more VC songs could end up in movies.

Billboard has confirmed THIS:

Vanessa Carlton's "Heroes & Thieves" debuts at No. 44 with 18,000 sold.

She has sold exactly 18,000 copies debut week! Its good, not great, but good.

How is that good? J Lo's only sold 60,000 and it's considered to be a flop.  :?

Expectations for J Lo >>>>>>>> Expectations for Vanessa.

It WAS a flop for Jennifer Lopez's standards.
