Fools Like Me student music video. + Whos to Say Test Vid!

Hi guys.

I'm a massive fan of Vanessa's and have been since Harmonium. I'm in my second or effective fourth year of college now and I'm directing a music video. The thing is we are allowed to use any artist for this project we like as long as they provide permission.

Getting Vanessa's permission is proving trickier than I thought.
We cannot get in touch in any way shape or form as we are based in the UK and are desperately looking for a contact, because it's either we get in touch and get permish by next thursday or im going to have to use another artists music and do a totally different video.

Anyone have suggestions?

The song i'm hoping to use is Fools Like Me.
I have an entire narrative which is true to the song planned out, locations, etc. It will be filmed in the Lakes of England if we get permission. I think you guys would enjoy it. It's supposed to be very tender and raw and romantic and show a turbulent breakup and the foreshadowing of it all in a naive girls eyes leading up to a resolution where she realizes she no longer needs the man she was addicted to, and walks past him when shes arm in arm with someone who truly makes her happy rather than just tolerates her infatuation.

Obviously it's not going to be the quality of Vanessas videos since they cost quite a few thousand dollars and we only have a few hundred, but hey. It will probably be my last directing job because next year im majoring and minoring in marketing and distribution in media, so I won't have the chance to direct anything but little teasers.

My alternatives are pretty sweet too, but I like this one - the most ambitious idea - the best, because i can envisage the video the best.

Thank's a lot for your response but we did already try this avenue of contact. As with most major label sites, we aren't getting much of a response. Does anyone know who vanessas agent is and how to get in touch?

Why do labels always make contacting them so difficult. I've worked as a producer before too and it's honestly a nightmare.

i have no clue, but it shouldnt [but it is] that hard to figure out, and if i worked at those record labels i would respond to yours probably 1st because it is involved with school and affecting your future.

Thanks so much for these details and for being so helpful as always.
I'll forward the information to my producer. We basically have until next week to get her to give the okay and if by like, wednesday she hasn't then we look at other artists.


I would have imagined Vanessa would have been okay with it, since shes a woman of the art rather than the record sales, and should encourage creativity. But getting in touch with her people has been a nightmare.

I've been producer in the past and it's never been this hard to get permission. People in my class have had the OKAY from people like Sigur Ros. And last year the band Texas was a greenlight for me.

No we will have actors invovled in this instead. Local actors. It's going to have a real wilderness feel to it.

My producer called up on Friday and the label said to call back to speak to to the right guy on Monday. So by Tuesday at latest we will know if we have permission. Really hoping so. Vanessa was my first choice forever.

That is my dream, I really want to be able to do something I love (acting and singing) I don't care about the whole famous celebrity thing, like vanessa said in her pleased ro meet you dvd "some people lve for being famous that's the whole point of their jobs, I don't" I have been acting since I was VERY young and I fell in love with it. And thanks to my experience with musical theater I love singing as well. So when I graduate from hs I want to go to NYU and major in performing arts and hopefully someday I will be living my dream!

Hey guys! This discussion about projects on Nessa really brings me back to my youth.

I can distinctly remember one of our world history projects in the 10th grade. The teacher, Ms. Thissletwat, asked us to "research one of the great families in history." Once those words came out of her mouth, I knew I had to do mine on the Carltons.

I had to do some background research on the Carltons, so I had established a little camp site on the tree branch facing Nessa's bedroom. As she listened to her music and read magazines (like the cool teen she was) I took notes on her behavioral patterns.

I convinced Nessa to invite me over to do some research and she completely put her best foot forward. She threw me in her coat closet to help me work and I gathered some of the most valuable information to my research. While collecting lint samples off the floor, which happened to have a distinctly pleasant taste I might add, she came in and escorted me out of the house (she knew that I had been working hard).

When Nessa presented her project on Monday, on the Romanov's (which I thought was a little far afield) I knew I had to go next. Opened up my poster board with great specimens, like Nessa eating, going to the bathroom, what I found on her closet floor, and a blurred pic of her mom in the shower (I had to be tasteful!). She cried in absolute joy and ran out of the room.

So, in sum, you can see a great project on Nessa can go a long way, take it from me!
