English Fail?
« on: July 10, 2008, 02:27:40 pm »
Does anyone else LOVE when they find english fail? For those who don't know, english fail is an attempt at spelling something [in english] correctly, or using the correct punctuation when it is really false, and then advertising it whether it be on their store window, or a candy machine, on a bumper, etc, so has anyone else seen it?

here's an example i found yesterday, they spelled raisins "raisans" it was on a candy machine in the mall

and one a korean couple put on their store window

Failed spelling for the win.

We all do it, so we may as well laugh about it :D

Tell me about it. Specially now that I am not in school I can miss spell a word and just get lazy and not change it.

The longer you are away from school, the easier it is to spell incorrectly.

Thankfully, Firefox has a spell-check function, which saves my bacon more often than not!

I hate bad English and spelling.. you should've seen my school's yearbook this year. SO MANY MISTAKES! It's painful to read. For example:

 "They tried there best"

They spelled a bunch of names wrong.

 GAH!

 It makes me angry.

There's a store near where I live called "Cheaper Than Cheaper". Their slogan, copied verbatim:

"Smile, your saving. alot of money."

Quotation marks and all.

I remember some mistakes in English class. Many years ago we had to translate 'Grasshopper' ('Saltamontes') into English, so my schoolmate wrote 'Hopmonts'.
And last year, a different mate had to write 'I agree you', which in Spanish is 'Estoy de acuerdo contigo'. And he wrote this: 'I am offcourse with you'.
