You all have some good points. I don't mean to repeat but don't give up. I know that V appreciates her fans. She's just not real good at keeping in touch. Maybe she's super busy on projects, maybe she not doing anything but relaxing and drawing inspiration. Yes, it would be nice to hear a little hi, maybe even a blog about her experience in the Artic. I'm not going to give up on her just because she doesn't stay in touch. Don't you have friends who don't keep in touch or even family members? We all get busy.

Like someone said before, Nh.com is about having a place where we can keep in touch, talk about what's going on, new artists we've found etc. We're going on 7 years here people. Vanessa knows we're here for her when she's ready.

Re: the porn, not a big surprise without any active mods there. Kinda why Nh.com was launched.

Vanessa is still my #1 and will always be my #1. I have other artists to follow while she's not on tour and that's just fine with my bank account.

When that record comes out you know she will give us a shout out.

She's always said she's about the music not the fame.

:] pretty much my thoughts exactly. not to say anyone's point is invalid, but i think we've had enough defeatist threads...

I'll admit I was angry and really saddened by the fact that she never popped by to say hello or one of her funny blogs/posts. Her show in Chicago really hurt me because she just wasn't herself and I thought about putting her on the back burner and moving on to other artists but I can't. I love her SO much, her music changed my life, her personality after shows was so genuine and whenever I need a pick me up moment I think of her laugh and that warm smile she gives. I can't put her aside, she probably hasn't put us aside and maybe she is busy or just relaxing and writing new material. At least she's out there living, breathing, and I'm sure of it-writing. Schuyler Fisk is phenomenal but she just doesn't reach the level that Vanessa has in my life. Every artist is different, and she tops them all for me, always. It feels good to let that out. Hopefully she'll peek in and say hello soon enough, until then I hope she's smiling and taking good care of herself.

Loved your post Let, you are wise and insightful. ;)

Let made a very good point. The only thing I have to comment about, though, is that "being about the music, not about the fame" doesn't mean you are about the music, not about your fans. How would she pay for all her beautiful clothes and lofts and pianos if it weren't for us? And trips to the Arctic and Egypt?
Not wanting to be in the spotlight all the time and not dropping by now and then to say, "hi guys, thanks for hanging around even though I don't tour and make shitty management choices" are two totally different things.

That's what I've been thinking.

My overall opinion on this subject:  It does bug me a little that she doesn't keep in touch with her fans, but not enough for me to stop loving her music.  amberbeads makes a good point though...plus it really takes just a couple minutes to post a quick update.  Why doesn't she, I wonder?

I'm not giving up on her music career, no way. I love it too much...but I just HAD to say something...the porn on the main boards, the year since the last update, just feeling ignored was getting too me...Yes, it doesn't say anywhere that she MUST update fans, or do this or do anything at all....but it would be nice, and I think keeping fans feeling posative about the artist that they put so much into, simply because they believe in there craft and vision.  I don't care if shes famous, or making chart topping records, I could have said that since day one....She used to post little notes way more often than she does now, even when we knew for a fact that she was a lot more busier on the road and what not.  Yes yes yes, I do not know what shes up too now....but thats because we do not get informed.   I will never give up on the music aspect of her career, but I'm not going to defend her anymore when it comes to this type of topic...it got old, fast.  I just feel that as an artist you really have to cater to your key fanbase, and I don't see that.  I really only felt like she updated us right before the record came up, which in a way was saying "Please buy my record", which yes, makes sense....but felt forced.

Thanks for not yelling at me, and disowning me from here.  It's just something I wanted to get off my chest.  But in no way am I giving up on the music side of things.

or you could just say 'i wouldn't even know this show was going on if it wasn't for the nessaholics'

that sums it up pretty well. ;)

although events where the artists only play one or two songs, generally are not annouced......she hasn't played in london sometime, so you'd think it would be officially annouced...for those fans. :)

Maybe someone scared her...you know, like getting plastic surgery to look exactly like her or something like that.  We don't really know.

Maybe the reasons are in the last album....

I'm as disappointed as most here.  I don't feel as connected as I used to.  V abandoned the "personal" aspect that she used to have back during the first album, when she would let us know about a movie she saw or songs she was working on in the studio.  It made her seem more like a regular person and less like your average narcissist pop princess.

I'm trying to put myself in her place.  Up and coming next big thing, platinum album, then work on next album, A&M tries to micro-manage, VC stays true to herself but makes enemies bigtime, A&M spitefully buries the album.

Just *that* had to be devastating.

Then, the whole Irv/Inc. thing and another let down...I think that she just feels she has little face to show, like she's embarrassed about it all.  Sure, we all feel let down, but I do hope that VC says something soon, that we 'Holics are not reduced to another small-print shout out on the back of a CD cover.  Hey, Nessa, you really like us?  Take 30 seconds and type us out something.....we'd love to hear from you, even if it's just to say HI!

Really, though, I'm here for the duration.  If and when VC comes around again, I'm in.  If not, that's OK too.  I'm sure she could score films or TV shows without breaking a sweat, but I'm sure she still has some killer songs to write and I hope she keeps on going.

I'm on my way to NYC right now and will be staying near V's neighborhood.
It would be nice to bump into her and be like "what's up with you?!! We haven't seen you around for a while girl!"
Seriously, I really do miss her... :(

ok my friend and I have this theory about Vanessa.
We looked at the pattern of all of her release dates for her albumss which are as followed:

Be Not Nobody April 2002 (Spring Time)
Harmonium November 2004 (Autumn)
Heroes and Thieves  October 2007 (Autumn)

Now judging by this, we came up with a projected release date for new material.  We think that she'll either do A)
A Summer album because she hasn't released anything in the summer but singles or B) She'll release something in the winter of next year.
Let's hope that something starts to bubble up with the new year on the horizon.
V we all love and miss you!! Please come out of the hole your in now!
