Actually the line "King under lavender skies" doesn't entirely surprise me because:

1. Don't know where, but I remember her saying that Stevie used to tell her to "Walk like a Queen...". This was from the H & T era.
2. This line is loosely evolved from Spring Streets, "We lived like Kings, like the days would never end".

My theory.

Actually her theory... To LIVE like Kings and Queens. It is seriously such a beautiful dogma...
If I were a King, I would be the King Theoden of Rohan.
I just find horses sexy. ;-)

Lavender or actually purple is the color of "Royalty" or it symbolizes it as far as I know.

But when I ventured forth to confirm this theory, I found out that in the 1950s it was a color used to represent Homosexuality... and it is actually a color used to represent femininity, grace and elegance.

Kinda like she means King but actually Queens but not a Queen but actually a King. Sorta like she DOESN'T WANNA BE A BRIDE.

But she does say "We" which could just mean Royalty.

good connection.  My first thought on "dance tonight" was ballet because she is a ballet dancer!  I like your ideas on lavender!  you could always start another thread to discuss that.
