I think they could, like baby rabbits I don't think they would go for fully grown ones. But I think they usually stick to smaller animals. Not sure though but I think that's what I heard last haha

Through out the day I thought I had an epiphany that its not owl but rabbits.

I though I heard your voice in the thunder,
Is the rabbit casting spells that we're under?

But its definitely a an hour/owl rhymey kinda word. I checked up with Watership Down maybe if there was an owl casting spells. But meh... now that the website's got that fancy video... This is just amateur discussion ;-)

That line is kinda tonguetwister lol. I think we will only know when we have official lyrics.

I do hear thunder too :))

yes, I FINALLY hear thunder. lol.  I think hour makes more sense than owl but I totally hear owl.  On second thought, owl would make sense too because of the rabbit theme and they are kind of mystical night creatures.. I don't know if they are in watership down.  I looked up owls and some can eat animals as large as themselves, some have been known to eat domestic dogs, so I don't think eating a rabbit is out of the question.

The more I listen to Carousel the more I like it. It is one of those songs that just continues to grow on you. :) The version with Stevie is awesome.

Ha! I was watching the video and my ears caught that bit and drove me here.

:P

I think it's "I thought I heard your voice in the thunder, is the hour casting spells that we're under?"

You're the closest one, I think. (: Congratulations for figuring it out.

I've been trying to what Stevie says instead of Vanessa, I'm hearing owl, not hour.

if you listen to the older recordings, especially the Western Carolina University recording, it kind of does sound like "hour" the first time she says it.

however, upon several listens, I think it's just the way she pronounced it ow-wuull

I've been leaning more towards it being owl both times she says it -- for all 3 performances that we have recorded of this song.

As much as I love hearing 'hour' in it, I could definitely 'owl' too at other recordings.

But I still like 'hour' better.

I just realized that the "riff" is just the C octave in arpeggio!! That is just so easy, why didn't I think of it? I guess I'm not Vanessa =P

So I FINALLY got around to watching that video if Stevie's performance with V. How sweet was Stevie's intro??? I wanted to hug her myself. Although I'm SO JEALOUS she gets to listen to the album already and we don't! Argh. But anyway, I definitely heard "is the owl casting spells that we're under?" the second time, not so sure about the first.

Never too late to change the pace
Somehow the days creep up on you
But the goodness is something you don't have to chase
'Cos it's following you

^ That's what I hear in the latest version. Anyone else? o_O
