Well we know she smokes weed occasionally (or not-so-occasionally when she's on tour).
I get the feeling that she might also be an occasional smoker as well.
I can't see her as a pack-a-day regular smoker, but maybe she will have a cigarette every now and then, like when she's stressed or drinking or something (like me)

I didn't know she smoked weed..?  Is this just speculation or ..?

she's confirmed it many times.

LOL hahaha can she really say that?

i'm not judging her, i've tried some things too two years ago (you know, everything happens at thirteen). everybody is free to do anything, but like... she said it hahah.

oops, sorry I forgot to change that with my last edit.

I know, it is "didn't you notice"
also yeah, "my grand French exit" sounds right.

also:
Just go, I'll go, don't cry
I don't know, I don't know, we'll be fine

Just going to ask that too.

I think the lyrics could be either honestly, depending on what line i want to hear when listening is usually what i get. I think i prefer the 'grand friend checks it,' but i've only listened to the Livestream one, as i'm not downloading the album, so i really couldn't tell you. As with the ;ortune tellers...' i suppose we'll just have to wait for the lyrics in the booklet.

I think that the "grand French exit" mentioned is the manner how she took the belladonna across the town. It could also pertain to the way how she leaves California.

I hope that'd make sense.

Aah that definitely clears it up and makes perfect sense. I take back my previous comment, this definitely is more poetic and has a better meaning

What is a "grand french exit"?

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Where_did_the_word_french_exit_originate_from

She put belladonna in the drink, then just left?

Ahhh

okay, this makes sense!  Though I don't know what she says, I was thinking.. grand french exit.. hmmm, that makes no sense, those are just words that mean nothing. hahaha.  nice research!

...let me get this straight. She killed her former lover by slipping belladonna in his drink, killing the guy, ("Slip away while you sleep"), leaving without a word, starts a new life on her own as a fresh beginning, being "easier than it seems" as she tries to hold back regrets ("Don't cry")?

The fact that she was able to mask such a devious and dark action with happiness from the deed with cheery instrumentals is just nothing short of amazing. I never even understood that until that second verse was cleared up. It's official. This is probably now one of my favorites on the album.

I don't think that she killed him with belladonna... Just made him sleep so that she can go away...
