Ha! I like Michelle Branch too (just look at my profile) and I don't see iether why people cannot be a fan of two artists with some "similarities". I personally think they are two very different ladies and the best is to enjoy them both (I mean, their music!!!)

Let me just say this...

Yeah.

Secondly, Michelle Branch has talent... just not as much as Vanessa. I like Avril better than Michelle. She is my least favorite of the "New Generation" , but she is still pretty good. I love "You Get Me". If you listen to the lyrics, it makes a lot of sense.

Thirdly, she is a good writer. Again, not as good as Vanessa, but in this case, better than Avril, because she writes a lot of stuff by herself, while Avril has a writing circle, that *really* helps her.

Fourthly (gr?)- Michelle is very good, and I am anticipating her next album. Hopefully it will have some better stuff than her first...

I have a feeling the new MB will be better. Every artist is different.
Tonic got better with each album.
Pearl Jam got worse with each
Matchbox 20 got worse with each
3 Doors Down got better

But as I watch Vanessa's every step approching her next album, I have a feeling Michelle will have a similar parallel where the quality just keeps improving with experiance.

To be honest I'd be pretty pleased if she took a step backwards and made another Broken Bracelet. Pretty well all my favourites come from her acousticcy performances.

I'd be damn happy with another Spirit Room too - I am that easy to please :).

Well she's doing a straight studio album... but there might be acoustic stuff on the upcoming DVD... ya never know. Or she might put out another EP one day, I wouldnt put it past her. But she has to do the full studio album to keep things commercial.

I like TSR a lot.  I'm a sucker for how Beatle-ish the album sounds at times.  The only thing that has begun to get on my nerves is her tendency to close out every line with "...ah!"(this is prolly the wannabe producer in me).  It's irritating over the course of a whole CD. "Turn it inside out so I can see-ah"...etc. etc.
No reason why you can't enjoy both.  Hell, we have Marilyn Manson fans that are VC fans, so why not?  There's not enough good music out there; turn on the radio if you don't believe me!

You've hit on the one thing that gets right on my tits too. It probably started as just "breathing in for the next line" and then maybe someone told "hey that breathy bit sounds really good - all like sexy or somefink - you should do that all the time". Maybe.

Yeah...I know some music majors and it irritates the crap out of them.

I've heard some live stuff of maybe 5 songs scheduled to be on the next album...so very cool
