I don't understand why everyone was willing and pleased about putting up with the flooding, post whoring, cussing, swearing, and overall "mean-ness" all over the VCMB, but the "sex thread" here in the "off topic" section causes such a problem?  Why is NH.com forums held to a different standard?

At least if parents come here, and want to read about Vanessa Carlton ONLY and not parse through a bunch of crap, there is an entire section JUST for that.  I don't know how i feel about the sex thread, but at least the subject says what it is... and if you don't wish to read it, you don't have to click on it.  I'm concerned about it, but at the same time "Sex" is a very common word and you have to be at least 13 to be registered here.

You guys that seem to have jumped on the bandwagon together have a lot of valid points, but make sure you aren't continuing to add to them just to have more to complain about and that they are actually valid points.

Honestly, i'm going to let this thread, and the one Todd started go for a while to encourage decent discussion in a non-angry manner.  If it get's out of hand tho, i'm going to step in.

ahh yes....true, however there used to be many many many insulting threads....it's down to a minimum now

yea, i removed that Todd, as someone else didn't agree with my desire to watch everyone work through this whole problem by using your thread *shrug*.  Not sure who locked it tho as it wasn't updated.

I locked it. Then updated it (you probably missed the update). If you are refering to the "I will not be held back." thread. I do agree with your desire I'll re-open it for discussion, let's hope people can be decent and reasonable about it.

wait wait wait a second, we never said it was allowed or we like it, we have ONE mod, whereas you guys have ten mods, and all i do is sit here and feel insulted, i could have flamers over there calling me rude names but they didnt make me feel unwanted by the "real" members, over here its the people who i actually would like to communicate with who are squashing me....as for all the insulting there i dont think you would see as much as you do here , im pretty sure there is less considering i stayed there ALL day...also they have swear filters and only a few select people know how to sneak by them and here you may swear freely....And Mallory's mom wouldnt come here just to look into Vanessa, im sure she would go into the off topic section to see what her daughter is doing, im sure she cares more about her daughter than whats going on with Vanessa...and she is 17 years old so there goes the whole 13 thing, and who said you can just type in that you are older than 13? i know a few members here living in a lie who are 12.

pete, i understand that mothers may come here, but they would check the VCMB too.  If *I* was 17, and concerned about my mother looking at what i was doing, i wouldn't go there... everyone posted freely on the VCMB and i'm sure there were many threads where "sex" was mentioned at some point.

I think people need to make a decision.  They need to either stick here, enjoy their time and make more of an effort to become one of the people here that likes to be here... or just not come around.  Clearly, you are upset and emotional because you want to be here and talk to people, but sometimes they aren't accepting... well at the same time, all the people you want to accept and like you... you keep telling "i'm only here till the VCMB comes back" which is... fairly insulting.

pete/mal.. i like you both *very* much.  I wish for you to stick around and not make this a temporary home

Furthermore, the sex thread is FAR less "troubling" for a 17 year old to read than there is in the old world.

I can't even post half the crap I heard/read/was told in school when I was 17.  

I think you're looking for a reason to stone the mods--and this was your best stone.
