hmmm south beach diet? I don't know what that one is about!

And Atkins died because he slipped and fell on an icy sidewalk....
I wondered why so many people dog on this diet... and then someone in livejournal made an interesting point that I will include below...

Quote
I thoroughly believe...
that the reason that there is such 'bad press' about the Atkins diet, all these tv/news specials about it, and constant slagging of it is: IT's FREE.

Sure, the food choices may be more expensive than the convenience garbage we used to eat, but that money didn't end up in Dr. Atkins' pocket. Yes, some supplements we choose to take can be costly, but you don't *have to* take them.. and again, no more money in Atkins' pocket. Money off his books? Sure.. but you can get the info for free easily enough.

I've noticed that a lot these tv news reports and specials are sponsored by weight watchers and other diet plans/pills etc. As per usual, it's 80% propaganda and 20% 'selected' facts.

People need to think for themselves, do their own research and wise up a bit.

/ rant, sorry.

i am the anti diet - because i think diets are f***in stupid - however -- Right now I am on Atkins and I LOVE it! (other than the meat part because prior to atkins i was a pescatarian --- just fish and veggies) but i have lost a good amount of weight and so has ryan - ryan has read like every single thing about atkins... and a member of our extended family is the official medical physician that is the spokesperson for atkins so when you see interviews or anything on the atkins diet - it's normally him - plus my dad is on atkins and he has done well on it too!

Good for you stephie!  Stick with it.  My brother Christ lost 35 pounds on it in about 3 months before he eased off.  ANd he has had no problems keeping it off since.

Both of my bosses are on Southbeach. Its like a toned down version of atkins. you can have some carbs after the first two weeks, and it stresses healthier meats and fats. My bosses are physical therapists and very knowledgeable in physiology so I respect their opinion when they say its a good system. It worked for them.

However, I personally am sick of hearing about how evil carbs are. I looooooooooove carbs! They are my friends.

Oh I did too! lol  :)
I don't eat too many sweets tho... I rarely do! But it's nice everyonce in a while.
My friends think I'm weird cause I usually prefer carrot sticks or other raw veggies over chocolate and candy.

bah! I hate you high metabolism people :)

I used to be like that..... till i finished college and stoped exercising.  Now I feel like I barely eat.

I used to go to Subway and eat a footlong with chips and a large soda.

No I get a wrap and an iced tea :(

I know i go on about it, but i just actually couldn't believe the size of the portions there- it was just absoloutely mad. Like why would you want that much to eat!?

Anyway, i have weened myself completely off fizzy drinks and junk food (well almost the junk food!)- and now i drink only water, and i feel much better for it. I get really tired and i find that stopping junk food and fizzy drinks has really helped. I also east celery when i want junk food cos it has the same crunch you want from that craaap.
