Laptop Help
« on: June 30, 2004, 05:45:31 am »
I just got a new laptop, a Dell Inspirion 8600... and I get on AIM... and leave my laptop for a while and AIM is shut down when I come back, or if I close the laptop its gone.  Could someone tell me how I can keep AIM up on here? Cuz I honestly just left to take a shower, for 15 minutes and when I came back it was gone.

i dont use AIM, but I would think there is a setting where you can set it to a certain time to stay logged in.

Does it actually die? Or just minimise into the little icon near your clock?

if your computer goes into stand by it may be minimizing it to the taskbar like kev said.  If that is the case you want to right click on your desktop and go to properties.  Under the screen saver section there is a power setting button.  You may find stuff in there.  Also some laptops have a little battery icon in the taskbar on the lower right.  If you right click on that you may have the option to edit your power settings.

If all this keeps failing download trillian from download.com and use that instead of AIM.  You can use your aim name with it and whatever, it works fine for me on my laptops

emachines are more expensive than handbuilt AMD systems, my desktop makes them look pitiful, for like 300 bucks
